2. This was my very
first attempt at a
front cover. I liked
having the four
different boys on it,
but I felt the photos
were too different
and didn’t match
quite right.
One thing I liked
about this design
was the elongated
logo across the
middle, so I decided
to keep this as my
design progressed.

not have a photo of
Connor and Jack
(bottom), so I cut I also changed one of
them out from the people in the

4. After creating the
rest of my digipak, I
felt that it was too
devoid of colour so I
added in the purple
feature colour I have
on my website to
three of the sides.

5. I wanted to have a different band member on each panel of my digipak, and I thought using
two pictures would be a good idea to make them fill the space and hopefully make it look
professional.
I had to compromise, however, as I
knew one of my panels would be
for a CD. I decided to use Bing for
the CD as his depth of
involvement in the project makes
him the frontman of our band.

6. My first two panels were fairly simple. After I’d chosen the photos, I desaturated them on
editing software to make them black and white, and then proceeded to manually cut out
the four photos by hand using the selection tools. I then simply layered them up to create
this effect.

7. Another panel I did was
of Louie. One major edit I
completed here was
getting rid of the nail
from his forehead. This
photo was taken by me
on Halloween last year,
and I chose it because I
thought his ‘beaten up’
look and also the fact he
was smoking made the
photo quite To get rid of it, I first completely deleted it to leave
representative of the a large hole in his head. I then selected the area I

However, the nail made it filled in his forehead using the Clone tool. This still
obvious it was fake, so it didn’t look right so I proceeded to use the Heal,
had to go. Smudge and colouring tools to make his new piece
of forehead look more natural.

8. For this panel, I downloaded a
template of the cd and inserted it
into my editing software. On a
separate document, I desaturated
and overlapped the two pictures
of Connor and then inserted it
into the CD-sized space in this
document.
The background of this panel is
the smoke being blown in the
picture on the back cover, but
majorly zoomed in as it was a high
quality image.
I also added the logo to this panel
because this is often on CDs.

9. On my back cover, there were
several elements I knew I had to
have. The track listings obviously
had to be present: for this, I used
the Vaccines track listing to create
a similar album to the one our
song actually came from. I also
made sure I had the right
institutional information on it
(below), as well as a barcode.

10. As for the artwork, again
it was an edited original
image. The photo
captured was of my
friend Jonathon, who has
no involvement in my
project other than
through this photo,
breathing out smoke very
slowly. I decided to crop
out his face as he was not
connected to the band, I did this edit by first cropping and rotating his face, making
and use this photo as I sure he was positioned correctly on the back cover. I then
thought smoking would separated the smoke and his face into two separate layers
be appropriate for the so I could apply different effects to them. I desaturated his
genre. face to fall in line with the other panels from my digipak,
and decided to change the colour of the smoke to the
purple colour that runs throughout my media work.
