Skyline-
Extra text above the masthead, tells the reader
some of the other stories in the issue and a bit
more about the magazine.
The masthead-
This is the title, name and/or logo of the magazine it
represents the brand and identity of the company. The
one ‘VIBE’ is linked to music so the target audience
should know how to identify this genre from the rest.
With Vibe magazines the cover image tends to overlap
the masthead, keeping the artist in the for front and
telling us the audience that the company is big enough
to cover some or its brand and we still know what it is
The colour light blue helps to keep the target audience
unisex.
Cover Image –
The cover image or main image usually covers the
whole of the cover page. With music magazines there
tends to be artist whom is relevant at he time. i.e. A
new album. They are often also involved in the main
story of the issue. Essentially the cover image is what
catches the audience members eye to make the sale.
Cover line-
This is linked to the image and tells the reader why
‘Kanye West’ is on the cover of this specific issue’
features- This is yet more information about
who is in this issue of and the articles
contained.
3. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
The Image- Tells u visually who this article is
about. The strong body of text is separate from the
image so the reader can determine weather they want
to turn the page of read into it. This image is very
dominant and dark. Setting a sodden tone for the
interview.
Quotations- A quote from the person of
interest is often on the same page as the image to
inform the reader of the articles content. Sets the
first impression of the interviews tone.
The strap line- Adds to the
information of the article and helps to intrigue
the reader with a questionable statement.
The text - Usually laid out in two Colum
format to condense the information and help
the reader know there reading place. Another
help is the Large font texts to help the reader
maintain their reading location
Water mark- This seems to be quite a
popular convention as it catches the readers
eye while they turn the pages and adds a
stylized aspect to the spread.
