Scientific writing Formats
introduction
Scientific writings and literatures are important component of scientific
communications. These provides efficient means of sharing knowledge and
scientific finding in order to present or put forward the facts in public and other
sources. Scientific writings are categorized in different types according to different
aspects and nature of the contents. All formats are aimed to share the findings and
facts. (1)
The different formats of written information’s include Research paper/Article,
Review paper, Research Dissertations, PhD Theses, Synopsis Pre prints, Poster
presentations, Scientific books, Survey Reports, Magazines, Newspaper articles,
letters to editor, Editorials, Short communications, Scientific presentations,
Conference and interviews reports etc are common examples. (2)
Generally all these scientific writing are considered as source of information and
are available in different sources like Scientific Journals, Data base, Encyclopedia,
Magazines , libraries and other internet tools, which makes communication
accessible and easy.(3)
According to the content, formats, proceedings and the purpose of publication all of
such literature and writings are divided in many categories. (4)
a. Primary literature
b. Secondary literature
c. Tertiary literature
Primary literature are mostly the authentic source of literature .It includes Scholars
research Articles, Thesis, Scientific presentations and Reports
Secondary literatures include peered reviewed information’s, the translation of
original facts and findings like review papers and books
Tertiary writing formats are usually the explanatory facts and supporting facts,
mostly conducted in light of primary and secondary sources.
A brief comparison about component of various scientific writing formats is given
in the table.
