Separation of Lanthanides/ Lanthanides and Actinides
Evaluation question 2 word
1. Q3. What have you learnt from your
audience feedback?
Questionnaire Analysis
2. In order to gain feedback from my audience, I constructed a
questionnaire on SurveyMonkey asking a variety of questions.
This enabled me to gather a variety of opinions.
4. Through asking this question I was
able to find out if the audience
enjoyed the video in general. From
the results, it appears that 90% of
respondents enjoyed the video.
However, 10% did not which may
mean I could have included more
narrative stories. This may have lead
to more segments of the target
audience being able to relate to the
stories. I feel I could have included
more social issues within the narrative
in order to achieve this. 0%

6. The intention of my music video was to create
something that the audience could relate to. I
followed this intention mainly within the
narratives, however, it seems that 70% of the
audience actually preferred the performance
aspect as opposed to the narratives. I feel that
this could be because of the fact that many
modern artists are idolised and the younger
teenage audiences are influenced by their
glamorous lifestyles. I feel that possibly the
simplicity of the performance aspect may have
drawn the audience in. This contrasts with the
narrative as the narrative was not chronological
and so may have been confusing for the
audience leading to them preferring the
performance aspect.

Did you prefer the
performance aspect or
the story lines within
the video the most?
8. Results show that 90% of my audience
liked the song choice. This may have
been due to the fact that it is composed
and sung by a well-known, idolised
artist. The song also deters from the
stereotypical up-beat pop genre song
which I feel may have appealed more
to the audience. However, 10% did not
like the song choice which may have
been due to the fact that they may
have preferred up-beat songs to keep
them entertained as this song is quite
slow paced.

“When the birds are flying”
“The part where she looked like a singer singing”
“The singing with a mic”
“Singing”
“The performance, the whole video stood out for me!”
“Well made video, all parts worked well”
“The stand alone singing”
10. I feel that these comments simply reinforce the fact that 70%
of the audience preferred the performance aspect of the
video as opposed to the narrative. One member of the
audience commented on “when the birds are flying”. The
intention of this was to act as a filler within the video but also
link with the lyrics by encoding a meaning into it. I feel that
this was successful as the audience felt that it was on of the
better aspects of the video, giving it a meaning.

12. The general consensus from these results show that a
number of my audience enjoyed “the birds flying”, “the song”,
“the story” and “the singing”. One did comment on the use of
the magazine advert appearing on the screen on a number of
occasions to create a link. I feel that this reinforces the fact
that everything within a music video is noticed and
recognised and so everything has a purpose and should
definitely have a meaning.
What were your 3 favourite things about the music video?
14. I did not expect this result. The intention of the
narrative was to portray a realistic set of stories
that a teenage audience could relate to
including; drugs and theft. The performance
was used to illustrate an opposite to this, it may
be classed as a dream or fantasy. However,
only 20% could relate to the narrative whereas
40% could relate to the performance. I feel this
could link to the idea of encoded and decoded
meanings. Where I may have encoded a
certain meaning, the audience may have not
interpreted this in the same way. This may also
support the idea that 40% could not relate to
either the performance nor the narrative.

16. As well as finding out what my audience enjoyed about the video,
I also wanted to find out what they did not like about it and how
they felt it could have been improved to meet their own personal
tastes. Whilst a variety said that it met their needs totally, some
commented on the idea that “the camera was shaky in some
places”. From this I learnt that you should pay attention to detail
during filming. Whilst at some points this effect was intentional, I
understand that for shots such as the birds flying was a little
shaky which took away the effect.

18. 60% of my audience said they
would rate it a 10/10, 40%
would rate it 9/10 which
supports the idea that some
things could have been
improved. 10% said they would
give it a 2. This simply shows
that there are a variety of
segments within the target
audience. It would take a
miracle to satisfy all segments.

19. What have I learnt from
this feedback?
I have found that my target audience of teenagers is a large audience
and one with many different tastes and trends. I’ve found it difficult to
address each individual taste and so I’ve had to address segments of the
audience rather than all of it. My feedback shows that it does not meet as
tastes and expectations. This links with the idea that my narrative did not
achieve its ultimate purpose to relate to the audience - I’ve found that not
all teenagers can link to these stories and so if I was to do the video
again, I would possibly try a variety of diverse narratives, giving the
audience more of a variety.
