2. I took a sample group of 20 people from my sixth form
all within the ages of 16-20 as this includes my target
audience, the same sample group was used for all
criteria below.
I have used 5 questions that give me data that I am able
to put into simple charts, this allows me to depict my
results in a visual representation making it easy to spot
correlations.
These questions have been designed to determine
whether my media products have been effective of their
purpose which is to meet their targeted audience and
represent the genre of Hip-Hop.

4. As you can see from the chart the very large majority of the
audience answered “Hip-Hop”, 1 person out of the 20 however
did answer “R&B”.
This question was asked to determine whether or not my media
products have been successful in following the conventions of
the Hip-Hop genre. As 95% of the audience stated that they
believe my media products are of the Hip-Hop genre, I believe
that I have been successful in creating a promotional music
video, digipak and a magazine advert that all effectively follow
the conventions found in real media products of the Hip-Hop
industry.

6. 80% of my audience answered “yes”, leaving the
remaining 20% to answer “to some degree”.
I believe that the data I have collected from this
question is evidence that my artist, Franko, has been
successfully represented as a Hip-Hop artist through
out my media products.
Therefore I have followed the conventions of the Hip-
Hop genre in relation to how I have represented my
artist’s star image.

8. As 90 % of my audience believe they can make links between
my music video and ancillary tasks and the remaining 10%
believe this to some degree. I believe I have very successfully
made links between the two, I have done this through multiple
elements such as how the artist has been portrayed on the
ancillary tasks and their performance in the music video.
It is much more effective in the marketing of Franko's album
that my media products have links between them and that the
targeted audience is able to recognise such links. This is
because the audience is then able to recognise the album in
store and relate it back to the music video or magazine advert
they have seen before, if they liked the other media products it
may convince them to purchase the actual album.

10. From the data I have collected I can see that 80 % of my
audience feels that the my media products definitely appeal to
them and that 15 % feel that it appeals to them to some degree.
5% feel that it doesn’t appeal to them at all, however this may
not be to do with the quality of these media products. It is
possible that this 5% may simply not be a fan of the genre in
which the all my media products are apart of, Hip-Hop.
If this is the case then it only proves that my media products
specifically cater to fans of Hip-Hop as I have followed the
conventions of real media products of the Hip-hop industry. So
I believe that my media products have been successful in
promoting an album targeted at Hip-hop fans.

Comment given on the
answer of no:
The advert lacked any
websites or social media to
follow up on the artists
release of the album.
12. With just 70% of my audience stating that yes it is effective, the
main thing pointed out was that my advert lacked any websites or
social media to follow the release of the album. This is a very fair
point and looking back on it I can definitely see how this would be
effective in marketing the release of the album, especially the use
of social media as it is so commonly used by my target audience
which is likely why they were able to point this out.
Because of this reason my magazine advert does not promote my
artists album as much as effectively as it should which is
disappointing, however it is useful to know as I can improve on this
in the future.
Advertising a website name and social media links is definitely
something I would use if I were to make another magazine advert
for the release of an album in the future.
13. In conclusion to the data I have collected from questioning my targeted
audience, I believe that I have been successful in conforming to the brief. “ To
create a promotion for the release of an album, to include a music promo video,
together with a digipak and advert”.
I believe this because for the most part my data shows that I have been
successful in sticking to the conventions of the genre I have chosen and have
been successful in promoting my artist to my target audience. My media
products proved to be appealing to my target audience, which was one of the
most important purposes of the products as if they don’t appeal to the target
audience it is very likely they would not consider purchasing the album or pay
attention to its release.
Therefore my three media products have successfully marketed the release of
Franko’s album to its target audience based on the collective data from both
this audience feedback and my previous feedback. However I do personally
believe that my digipak was more effective at doing so over my promo video
and advert due to the criticism the two products received from the target
audience.
