2. Recall the last step of the workshop: “revise or create a learning activity that will help underprepared students achieve a difficult learning outcome for a specific course,” using their handout to guide you through the process.
3. How well did it work? Ultimately, you will want to determine whether your revisions have been successful. Adapt one of the following to fit the requirements of the course and discipline-specific methods for assessing student learning: Assess grades for the selected activities Develop a rubric that outlines levels of performance on the activity, and aim for increase in the number of students who meet or exceed the goals for the revised activity Retain students in the course (lower DFWI rates) Give a midterm or end-of-term survey of students’ perception of the activity’s effectiveness in helping them achieve the learning goal Hold a brief class discussion gathering feedback from students about the effectiveness of the activity
