The document describes three characters for the short film "Homeless":
Joe, the main protagonist who loses everything and becomes homeless. Charles Gordon will play Joe due to his experience.
Rejjie, a cheerful shop worker who Joe interacts with, representing normality. Rejjie's role will be played by the worker at the director's local shop.
The homeless man, who loses his family, home, and money, and feels it's time for revenge against those who didn't help him. His role can be played by anyone due to limited screen time and face not being shown. He delivers the crucial message to Joe about giving to others.
2. Character: Joe
• Joe is the main protagonist. The character comes across as your
average ‘Joe’ who goes to work in order to earn enough money
to support himself financially… and that’s about it. Joe has no
family or children. The role of his character is to show how such a
horrifying experience can happen to anybody, even someone
who just goes by his day to day life.
• The pictures on the left shows how we pictured our character to
be like.We chose Charles Gordon to be the actor of this
character as we wanted somebody who is confident in front of a
camera. Charles has many years of acting experience therefore
we think he will execute the role of Joe perfectly.
3. Character: Rejjie
• Homeless includes a scene where Joe visits the corner shop
on the way back from work. The character introduced in this
scene is Rejjie who works at the corner shop. Rejjie is a
cheerful man, even when his job is low paid. This emphasises
the normality of the short film at the beginning as Joe
interacts with Rejjie. Rejjie has a family to go back to and is
again earning just enough money to pay for his house,
children and food & drink.
• The images shows the similarity between the actor and
character. Charles is good friends with the worker of his local
corner shop therefore was able to get him to act out this role
for us.
4. Character: Homeless Man
• The final character in Homeless is the reason for how our idea
of this short film came about. We wanted to not give the
homeless man a name in the film as this adds to the unknown
factor within our short. He lost everything he owns, family,
house and of course money. He has been homeless for a long
time now and feels like it is time for revenge against those
who don’t help him get out of the position he is in.
• In terms of the actor, we will choose anybody on set to act this
role out as very little face will be shown. The homeless man
will not appear for long however the message which he gives
Joe is the crucial part making a role that in society seem
irrelevant become very important in our short as we get across
the idea that you must give to others.
