Ellie, Joe, Beth and Beth
Casting

Who and how we cast is extremely important to the
success of our thriller and how effective and popular it
is with our audience. In the following presentation I
will explain who we ideally hope to play our
characters.
Casting for The Detective


For this role we were planning on casting an older male as our
character is in the 30s age range. However, this has proven difficult
as most people we know in this age range who are willing to act
are either working or have other commitments.
We have managed to cast Beth W’s older brother who is 18.
Despite his age we are planning to make him look older with the
magic of makeup and the fact that he is older than 6’4” makes him
look older as well. As a group we agreed that we would have to go
for late teens – early 20s year old men as the other age group was
impossible. It is important that they look older though. Beth’s
brother is willing to play this role and is contactable through Beth
herself. He is also available within the times that we want to film.
Casting for Charlotte Adams


The actress we ideally want to play this role would be
around 12 years old. We want the actress to look her age if
not slightly younger. We wanted a slim petite build with
long black hair. We have had to be flexible with this
description as we know no one with long black hair and
we’re not willing to buy a wig as a good quality one would
be very expensive.
We have decided to cast Joe’s younger sister for this role. She
is 13 with blonde hair (hence the need to be flexible) and she
fits our characters physical description. She has little
commitments outside of school and would therefore be able
to film at the required times.
Casting for The Shade

The casting for this character is probably the easiest of
them all. This is due to the fact that their entire body
and face will be covered. However, the difficulty is that
all actors playing the part of the shade must be the
same build/height. We can work around this as we can
change the camera angles and add effects to disguise
this difference.
How to make sure our casting
choices are right.



In order to make sure our casting choices are correct we have
decided to hold a set of mini-auditions. As a result of these
auditions, we will either agree that our original choice was
correct or change our choice. If we only have one option in
the first place ie. the actor for the role of our Detective, we
will write a short scrip to make sure they are capable of what
we want. We can either then mould the actor themselves into
the character or try to find a different actor.
Another important factor of all of our actors/actresses is to
make sure that they are all free at the required times. If they
aren’t free this could hold up the whole production.
