Millie Longford and others presented a pitch for a psychological thriller film about a man with absence seizures that cause him to develop split personalities, one of which commits murders. The man is unaware of his condition or crimes. The film will explore this concept similarly to Split but with the unique addition of absence seizures. Key promotional elements discussed included focusing on the multiple personalities aspect to generate mystery and intrigue around an otherwise normal-seeming man. Initial ideas were presented for the poster, trailer, and target audience based on research from the similar film Split.
2. Overview
PsychologicalThriller
Synopsis:
A man, unaware of his split personalities, finds
himself losing grip of reality when he starts
to remember a series of murders he committed. The
split personalities are caused by his absence seizures,
which are the consequences of his past drug abuse.
We have taken lots of ideas
from the film Split
and Black Swan. We used
the idea of
multiple personalities although
he won't remember his other
personalities which will be the
main difference.
4. Promotional Campaign
Our Unique Selling Point is
his absence seizures and
his split personalities.
Although there are other
films that feature one
element there appear to
be none which feature
both.
We will not give away too
much information about
the character to create
enigma this will
hopefully increase
the audience size.
In our campaign the
main focus will
be his multiple
personalities which causes
him to commit murders.
5. Poster Design
We are currently unsure of
poster design as there are
multiple elements which
would work. However, since
we are pushing his multiple
personalities in the
campaign we believe the
poster should
show that he has multiple
personalities.
One idea is that we have
his face showing to
different expressions, split
down the middle.
However, this idea
is not original so we
decided against it.We did
consider
showing two different
scenes either looking
through his eyes or
reflecting in them.
As a group, we
have decided on a tag
line although this is not
set.
We decided on;
'A killer's absence doesn't
mean you're safe'
This tag line has reference
to his absence seizures and
is an effective play on
words. Moreover, it further
creates enigma and
mystery.
6. TeaserTrailer
We want to have a scene
with him acting normally in
society.We decided he
should be visiting his mum
in her care home, giving
her flowers.
There is also going to be a
scene where there is a
hand buried in the ground.
We want to show he is
losing grip of reality.
7. Target Audience
ForTarget Audience
research, we used the
Pearl and Dean business
website to investigate the
audience profile for the
film Split.This is because
Split is a comparable film.
The film Split had an age
certificate of 15.This is
why there were no
audience members below
this age.
This film was mainly
viewed by males which
suggests we should be
mainly aiming our film
towards males.
