3. Process
Instead of having text against a blank page, I
chose to use text I'd chosen to use a texture. For
this I'd used like an old paper texture (which I
had found of the internet) and furthered it with
a circuit board texture I'd also found on the
internet. Again to blend to I played about with
the "Layers" (4) settings and "Opacity,"
(5) settling on "Soft Light." (6)
Because the only pictures of Trevor Martin were in black
and white I had to colourise them. In order to this I used
just a regular "paint brush" (1) tool (in anew layer-) and
painted over the black and white photo, to get the colour
to mix with the image I played about with "Overlay." (2)
Sometimes to give the colour depth I'd use another colour
in a different layer and use "lighten." (3)

4. Process
As stuck the characters to a colour pop -
style (a black and white image with
coloured feature,) I chose to make them
blend in using a red "inner glow." (1) By
making it red, it game the slight illusion that
he blended into the environment.
(1)
Because I found that the black text didn't
stand out as well as I hoped against the
textured background. To overcome this
problem I applied a white glow around the
text. That way the black text would
contrast against the white glow – no
matter what the background is...
5. Process
To cut out the pictures (the old-fashioned
way-) by using the "Erasers" (1) tool. I chose
this rather than the alternate ways is
because I found it to have a softer cut to it
whilst still staying really easy to do.
To make the glow from the background
appear more realistic, I used the
"Brush" (2) on a lower "Hardness,"
whilst playing around with opacity.

6. Process
• At the top of the issue I've included the "Doctor Who
- Magazine" logo; with the "Special Edition" - telling
the reader what kind of issue they're reading; as well
as the "BBC" indent above the actual logo as they're
ones who produce the actual show – it also helps the
overall cover look that little more professional.
• For the colour scheme I used alot of the colour red to
represent the overshadowing evil of the "Daleks."
• The circuit board texture in the background is there
to represent "The Super-Computer" - from the first
episode.
• The "Doctor" holding two of the "Keys" - the blue
keys.
• I've also included some jungle-greenery for
the planet, (both in front and behind the text to give
it more a professional look to it – depending on how
important the text is.)
• In addition to this, I've customized the planet to fit
the description of "Khan."
