2. Process
To give the fishing magazine a more professional look I
applied a sticker. (1) This will also make the magazine look a
little more exciting or even eye catchy to an audience.
To do this I used the "Ellipse" (2) tool and applied - "all
inside this great issue!" With the "Horizontal Type" (3)
tool... To finish it off I finally grouped it and rotated it onto
angle – by pressing "T" and dragging it anti-clockwise.

3. Process
For the background image I found just a
general picture of "a man holding a fish" (to
fit in with the general style used by fishing
magazines.) However the ratio of the
picture of didn't fit the given ratio of the
magazine. Furthermore the stretching it
wasn’t an option as I'd both loose quality
and I liked the size of picture, I just wanted
there to be a sky above him to fit the given
ration. To do that I used the "Brush" (1) tool
(on a low "hardness" - to make it blend into
the picture,) and the "eyedropper" (2) tool
to select the correct sky colour.

4. Process
For the strip at the top of the cover was composed by
combining text (using the "horizontal text" (1) tool)
and an elongated black rectangle (created using the
"Rectangle" (2) tool.)
The reason for these two colours (black against a more
golden yellow,) was because they stand out – against
each other. This being apposed to the black on white
as this could come off quite dull to an audience. In
addition to this, these colours can be often found on
fishing magazine strip.
For the rest of the text sprawled across the page
(advertising the contents,) I stuck to a plain white –
again sticking to regularly used on fishing magazines...(1)

5. Process
For the fishing rod on the banner – I
applied a glow to highlight the potential
"free" give away. To do this I went into
"layer style/outer glow" and played about
with the settings till the glow looked the
way I wanted it to. - This technique was
also applied to the fish finger on a fork...
9. Reflection
What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
I will keep the text sprawled across the screen with a the
person/character as the centre of it. I also personally like the idea of a
nice background image. As well as this – from my design I'll keeping
the affect of images and text sprawled across the page...
However I prefer the idea of making my magazine based round
something fiction rather than non-fiction (e.g. "Doctor Who,") as I like
the idea of the creative freedom. Also, rather than the photo I'd like to
create some artwork which would both fit and tell a brief story- as it'll
be fictional...
