Final Reflection on Kindergarten
All children need time to play, and kindergarten is the place. According to this, as a teacher we can
associate playing with learning.
Due to this, the original aim of this experience is that kids learn from playing and doing things they like and
enjoy doing while learning. And I believe that the objectives, activities and the use of resources were
coherent with a pedagogical perspective since I tried to use elements from childhood like hopscotch, dice,
balls, etc.
I tried to play with curiosity, hiding things and making noise to call their attention, it was nice to see their
curious faces waiting for what the teacher had for them.
Consequently, I could see that kids were motivated and this made activities more significant for them, as
they could see that the teacher also took part in games like they did because sometimes during the lessons
I found myself involved in games.
2. I believe that, as a rule, apart from skills and knowledge, attributes are essential when working with kids
also patience, the ability to hide frustration or annoyance, the ability to stay calm during stressful situations
because kids are unpredictable and so situations involving them are.
Therefore, working with children requires unique challenges because they have not yet developed many of
the skills and they cope mechanisms of adults.
What I learned from this experience is that with kids everything is unexpectable and unpredictable. I mean,
what do you think might work in certain context when you apply it might not work properly.
So, If I had the chance to develop my practices again I would apply more games with kids. I would find the
way of teaching by playing because I firmly believe that children from this age learn more if they find
something significant and meaningful like child games. I would also use more English in class because
sometimes I found myself speaking in Spanish for them to understand. And this is what would influence my
future goals and pedagogical decissions when working with kids.
However, and this is a personal criticism, I´m almost satisfied with the way I developed practice. I tried all
the time to do different things and use varied resources and materials. But in the other hand I´m aware
that I should have used more L2 and less Spanish.
During this experience I felt very comfortable. I was very well received by the kids and also the teachers.
Children were engaged in all the activities and they were always respectful. I had no trouble in making
them participate in my lessons.
Undoubtedly, working with kids was meaningful to me because I´ve never worked with them before and I
learned a lot from kindergarten.
My personal beliefs regarding this experience is that activities for kids from this age must be creative and
varied but you need much more to succeed at this level. You need passion, patience, creativity, flexibility,
respect and full high energy. Kindergarten teachers are the first people to introduce students to the world
of education. They open doors that some children didn’t even know existed!
3. To conclude, kindergarten was a wonderful experience. I received a lot of love from children and saw their
happy faces when I arrived while asking me What we are going to do today teacher? It has no price in the
world. I´m happy, it is all I have to say!!!
