Dimensions of reflectivethinking
My final Reflection
Thinking back
The original aim of this experience was to gain experience in teaching and to accomplish the
practicum required to become a teacher of English.
I truly believe that the objectives, activities and resources were coherent with a pedagogical
perspective since I tried to bring materials and resources to catch students` attention, I tried to
play with colours, drawings, always bearing in mind that kids and also teens can learn better by
playingandmovingwhile having fun in the classroom becoming into an enriching and significant
experience for learnenrs.
One of the most important skills that was necessary during this experience was PASSION! Being
enthusiasticandpassionateall the time and thinking about our learners. Patience was necessary
too, especiallywhenworkingwithkidsbecausethere were situations when they became restless
and I had to handle all with calm. Knowledge gained from experience was also necessary. We
neverstoplearning andthe experience inclassroom(alwaysbeinghumble)helpedme in trying to
create effective teaching and learning environments.
What I learnedfromthisexperience wasthatsometimeswhatwe thinkwill workandbe effective
couldnot be that way.Especiallywithkids,Ilearnedthatkids are unpredictable and that they are
like little box of surprises, I mean you will never know what they might bring inside. But what I
really learned is that as teachers we need to be able to improvise because every lesson we are
challenged to act in response to student´s needs and what takes place in classroom. So we must
be able to improvise and be able to change our plan when we see that things are not working as
we expected.
Thinking forward
If I hadthe chance to developthisexperience againIwoulddothe same thingsthatI did,but I also
would devote more time in preparing my lessons.
Thisexperience influence myfuture goalsinthe waythatit made me believe that I want to be the
bestteacherI can be,to share my knowledge with others and make others love what I teach too.
Being ambitious, I would like to impart lessons that will last a lifetime and being even more
2. ambitiousinmy future goals, I would like to inspire my students to encourage them to strive for
greatness in life. Am I being ambitious?? May be yes! But dreaming is allowed to all of us!!
Thinking inward
This experience was meaningful to me because I worked and met people that enriched my
experience asateacher.I had the possibilitytoshare mytime withkids and learn from them. And
God how we learn from them!!!
It was alsomeaningful because Ilearnedalotfromeachperson, eachplace, eachlesson and each
situation I had to face with and that is my personal belief regarding this experience, we are
constantly learning in life.
So I have to saythat I am satisfiedwithmyexperience andevenwhenthingswere notas I desired
I learnedalot of thembecause all of them allowed me to become who I am searching to become
in life.
I wantto thank to God,firstof all and alsoto my tutorsinthiscareer because Ifeltvery happy and
containedall the time duringthispleasantexperience. I have no complains and so it a must to be
grateful with people who helped us to become a better person.
Thinking Outward
It is important to become a good teacher to reflect on the world around us, to take into account
othersopinionsandpointsof viewandnotto buryonself in our beliefs. A teacher has to be open
minded and to appreciate even the most marginal of views by realizing that everybody has
something meaningful to communicate.
What it is important is to bear in mind that every thing we do in life will have an impact in the
classroom, in students life and in society and it is because of that we always have to seek to
improve in our career but especially in life.
Never ever stop learning!!!
