The fallen of WW11
In this documentary they don’t use any film but the bulk of the documentary they use animated visual
graphics to explain the point. This is very effective because you have the visual representation of all the
deaths of WW11. The graphics just show us the impact of the war because it shows us the different death
tolls from each country, and the graphics puts a lot of impact on the deaths because for instance for the USSR
the death tolls keeps on going up and up which just shows how devastating the war was and that is the point
of the actual documentary to tell us about the fallen of the war.
Apart from the visual animated graphics they also use existing images from the war to actually show us the
horror of the war. The images will impact us a lot more than the graphics because you actually see images of
the war which will have a greater impact on you because you can see the atrocities of what happened during
the war.

Haunted by Columbine
In this documentary they use a lot of found footage to excel their point. This is very good and gripping
because you get the real footage from the event such as CCTV footage from the school cafeteria which
shows us the killers placing bombs and shooting at students. The CCTS footage shows us how destructive
the killers where which you could see in the students and the explosions. The documentary also uses a lot
of news footage which also shows us how big it was. It shows how big of an event it was. But by using the
news footage in the documentary it shows us the realism of the event and really hits home because this
could happen to any school in the USA or anywhere in the world. Another reason why using found
footage is god in a documentary is because you will have a lot of evidence because this is real, raw
footage and non of it is wrong.
Another thing they used in the documentary was interviews. This is good in a documentary because you
can talk to people who went through the horror and can give you a first person view of what they went
through and tell us details that the news channels didn’t receive back when it happened in 1999.

The butterfly effect
in this documentary the person who made it mainly used images and videos he had found on the internet. Using
the images and videos to get the point across. The images and videos are effective because it gives visuals to what
he is saying. When he is talking about a certain section on the butterfly effect such as the part on WW1 he puts
visuals to show some evidence.
The problem was it was just a bit boring because it was just one guy talking into a microphone with some images
and videos in the background. Factually it was good but visually it was dull and boring. If I was to make it better I
would try and get an interview with someone who know a lot about he butterfly effect and get him to talk to us
about what he has found out about the butterfly effect, it would make it a lot more interesting because you have
a professional opinion on the subject.

Gabriel Jesus documentary
In this documentary they use a lot of interviews which is good because we can gather a lot of information
from theses people about Gabriel Jesus. Getting interviews are important for documentaries because you
have real information about this subject. They where talking to his ex coaches and managers, people who
he has played with and also people who he has played against. This is really good because you can get a
real inside on him. They also interview Gabriel Jesus himself which is really good because he can tell you
first hand about some stuff that he did and get even more of an inside to his life before moving to
Manchester city.
To go along side the interview, instead on just focusing on the interviewer they put real videos and pictures
of Gabriel Jesus. This is important to have in a documentary because just looking at someone talking can
be boring so by having a video of Jesus playing for his old club while his old manager is talking about him
from that season.
6. Research summary
What I have found out is that by using a mixture of found
footage and interviews work really well because instead
of just look at someone talking you can get some footage
in the background it will make it more interesting and it
will keep people more engaged. With the video in the
background it also gives you extra evidence or proof to
back the point up because you can visually see what
things where like and that is the same with pictures.
I would like to make my documentary in that style for
them exact reasons.
8. Idea 1
My first idea is going to be a documentary on conspiracy theory's. The main thing I would focus on
would be why people believe in conspiracy theories. I could get a lot of information about this
subject on the internet and also in books. Getting interviews from professional conspiracy theorist
will be very interesting because we could see why they became conspiracy theorist and why they
believe in conspiracy theories. What I would do I would have the person I interview talk in the
background and then I would have videos of the theories the person I interview researches or other
related images and videos. I also would like to talk about some conspiracy theories as well and why
some people will believe in it and why some people don’t believe in it, I then can get someone to
talk about why that don’t believe in some conspiracies and why some people do believe in that
certain conspiracy
9. Idea 2
My second idea is going to be a documentary on Leeds united but specifically the fans and what the
mean to the club and the players. I would like to interview some Leeds fans to talk about why they
became a Leeds fan and how long they have been a Leeds fan. I would also like to try and get a
interview with some Leeds players talking about the Leeds fans, what they think about the Leeds
fans, how much influence they have and what is the atmosphere like. I would also like to stick to the
idea of having the person talking in the background while I have some nice cinematics, images and
videos of things that relates to the topic we are talking about. I would also like to link the centurial
season (100 years of Leeds) because I could easily link it into the topic I am talking about which is
Leeds fans because I could talk about how the fans have changed. I would also like to make some
animations and also some infographics because it would look quite effective.
10. Idea 3
My final idea I have is that I want to do a film on the MCU (the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and
specifically how it has changed in 10 years. I would like to talk about haw the cinematography
has changed and what different directors do differently in their movie. I would do the talking in
this because I interviews would really work in this situation because I cant really get hold of
the directors. What I would do I would record my voice instead of recording myself as well and
what else I want to do is to get images and videos of the certain film I am talking about so if I
am talking so if I am talking about Guardians Of The Galaxy I will have clips and images of the
film. I also would like to include some animations and info graphics in it because I think it
would be quite effective
Editor's Notes
Think about a subject you could write about, a design style you could work in and why you would want to do it.
Think about content. What different visual and written elements would you include?
Initial ideas can be documented in any way that you would like. Mind maps are ok, but they don’t work for everyone. If you prefer to simply write your idea, do that. If you want to combine text and images, do that. As long as you communicate a potential idea, the method is up to you. Present you idea and also some justification for your choices. You can link this back to your research.
