2. LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIM TASK, WHAT HAVE YOU
LEARNT IN THE PROGRESSION OF THAT TO THE FINAL
PRODUCT?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-cd8Kjj2wA This is a link to my preliminary task. I
found the task somewhat amusing to create. It was something fun and new to
experience when working with cameras and creating a piece. This task enabled
us to be creative as well as be aware of the camera techniques needed to create
the prelim video and our main task. The hardest thing to overcome was editing
the shots so that it worked and flowed together, even though my original prelim
video was not able to work, the new one was as difficult as the other.
3. In my opinion, I was happy with my preliminary task, it showed that I had clear
understanding of the different shots used for example over the shoulder shot
when the student was watching the teacher and the match on action shot when
the other student was texting outside. What I could have improved was the
sound, I should have edited the sound and put in some music or some sort of
entertainment as it was quite basic.
4. My final opening demonstrates a progression to the standards of filming
compared to my preliminary task by the way the camera techniques were used.
In my opening sequence I had a variety of shots ranging from low angle to over
the shoulder shot, from shaky footage to still and professional footage. My
camera skills went from amateur to professional by practicing and making sure I
understood what was needed in order for me to achieve the best grade I can get
out of this. One similar shot that showed improvements was over the shoulder
shot. Below you can see the difference in how my skills have improved.
5. What I have learnt from completing this coursework is that a lot of work goes into
making films, you have to think about sound in general as it plays a specific role in
setting the right mood for the film and making sure the audience are engaged.
The font is also important as it is the first thing that the audience see and they
make a quick judgment of what the film is based about according to the title font.
However, the most important thing I learnt from completing this coursework is
that it is vital to do research into the genre before starting your film, it helps you
gain insight and is very useful.
