2. FEMALES
While looking over the groups opening sequence I have noticed that we have followed
many conventions of the horror genre. For example we have used a white blonde girl as
the main victim, we had done this because many blonde girls follow the stereotype of
being ‘stupid’ or ‘a typical rich girl who is portrayed as being a model’ so it is following
the convention of using the blonde girl stereotype of walking into a dangerous situation
is a very obvious thing to do when filming. We also did this because we needed a
stereotypical character that would be expected to be killed first, however while filming
we put a twist on the plot as the audience thought she had gotten away from the killer
however at the end is then killed via a jump scare
3. EXTRAS / GROUPS
• We have also avoided the stereotypical convention of having a group of people in the
horror film with a normal male lead that does not get killed and gets away instead we
have kept I short, however we have used the horror convention of having someone go
off on their own as this then makes the plot of the opening better and much more
tense for the audience as this is what gets a better response
4. TEENAGERS
• I also have noticed that we are using a teenaged actress to portray the victim as
teenagers are known as the trouble makers and also are known for going where they
shouldn’t, so as a group we have made it look deliberate that she has gone
somewhere on her own to do something that she might not normally do. This then
would benefit more to teenagers as they can then then relate to what the teenaged
girl is doing
