1. Working title:
About gaming
Audience:
The target audience for my “About Gaming” magazine will be targeted towards people
within the age range of early 20’s to mid 30’s as they are most likely are gamers who are
more likely to buy magazines. The gender that my magazine will try to appeal to will be
males as most gamers are male and more males are enthusiastic and interested in the
gaming community and environment. My magazine will be targeted to people of all social
statuses however the price will be affordable so all consumers can buy it. The
lifestyle/psychographics of my audience that my magazine will be targeted towards is an
audience who live a balanced/totally integrated lifestyle this means they are “a mixture of
Achievers and the Socially Conscious groups. They will respond to concepts of success but
related to benefitting mankind”.
Rationale:
Throughout this year I have gained knowledge and skills with Photoshop, adobe premiere
and various filming and editing techniques. The subjects I have studied this year have
informed me on my choice as it has shown me that there is a large audience within gaming.
I have studied various filming, editing, animation and print techniques throughout the year,
this will have a direct impact on my project as it has given me an advantage for when I go
into producing my project since I will have prior knowledge on how to create my print cover.
2. Project concept (200 words)
The concept for my project is to create a gaming magazine called “About Gaming”, this
magazine will include all the latest news in the gaming community from video games,
consoles, accessories, etc. I will try and attract audiences by keeping up to date with current
trends within the gaming community, featuring known gamers/videogames on the front
cover, create buy worthy content, create eye catching title bait covers that’ll intrigue an
audience. This magazines intention will be to educate and entertain the audience. I will
conduct this research by looking at current real life gaming magazines and see how they lay
out the design, communicate with the audience, present articles, gain audience’s attention.
I will use all of these factors to help influence me on how I will create my magazine to
become successful and appealing to my target audience. I will also gain research on my
target audience and what their preferences are to make my project seemmore direct and
appealing to my audience.
Evaluation (50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work by looking at other gaming magazines and comparing them to
my project, I will look at similarities and differences between the magazines and look for
areas of improvements with my work or areas which I succeeded in. I will also evaluate how
I put my work together and record when I struggled with tasks and how I could overcome
them in the future and also look at what I did well and enjoyed when creating my project.
