4. Research shows that meeting engagement starts to drop off
quite rapidly after about 30 minutes with attention levels
dropping quicker the more extended the meeting
lasts. Whatever can be said in 15 minutes should be told in 15
minutes, trying to never surpass a twenty-five minutes length.
Break long sessions in pieces. Let people relax and refocus.
Long meetings just take off energy, creativity, enthusiasm, and
optimism. What is the point to keep everybody there if they are
not "operative" and ready to bring value?Have also in mind
that early items in the agenda received a disproportionate
amount of time and attention regardless of their importance.

6. Research indicates that over 50 percent of meeting time is wasted. According to Wolf
Management Consultants, most professionals in America attend a total of 61.8 meetings
per month admitting to daydreaming (91%), missing meetings (96%) or missing parts of
meetings (95%). A large percentage (73%) say they have brought other work to
meetings and 39% say they have dozed during meetings. These demotivating data is
worsened by studies showing how meetings have increased in length and frequency
over the past 50 years. Are we really meeting after lunch?
Let's face it. Meetings are important just if they are important! If they make you lose
time, efforts and energy without precise results out of it, something is not going right!
