The document provides tips for effective meetings. It emphasizes that meetings should focus on listening to others, connecting ideas, and leaving an impression of dependability and accountability. It then lists three tips for effective meetings: 1) call members at least 24 hours in advance so they can plan accordingly, 2) have a clear agenda to stay focused on objectives, and 3) create a respectful environment where all members can participate and be heard. Following these tips can help ensure meetings are productive uses of time.

2. “A meeting is never about you. It’s about your ability to actively listen,
carefully observe and identify opportunities in the room.
Secondly, it’s about how you connect the dots of thought – your
ability to be strategic and package and communicate the actionable
and measureable opportunities that can advance the objectives the
room is solving for in the meeting into digestible nuggets that
everyone can relate to and buy into.
Finally, it’s about leaving a memorable impression with your
colleagues that you are dependable and able to move conversations
into action and enforce accountability — while at the same time
inspiring people to achieve, stretch their thinking and challenge their
capabilities to grow and prosper.”
3. 1. Call the members of the meeting with at
least twenty four hours of anticipation.
2. Have an agenda of the targets of the
meeting.
3. Create a respectful environment inside the
room.
4. This first action tries to evoke the goal of punctuality and
organization.
With this, members of the meeting can schedule it on
their daily tasks to take the necessary time away from
them.
It is essential to let them know the duration of the
meeting from the beginning so that they can organize
their work.
Taking this tip gives the caller a chance to re-schedule it
in case that one of the members isn´t able to attend.
5. Always keep in mind that WASTED TIME is one of the most
expensive costs in a business, so take advantage of it.
Having an agenda will focus the attention on selected topics
and it can also be helpful for everyone to be prepared with
their opinions.
It will avoid diverting attention.
6. Every member of the meeting is important, so they must have
the same opportunity to talk, to see each other from their
place and to be heard.
From the beginning each one of them must now where to sit to
avoid distractions, they must know about the “five bell ring” to
let everyone else give their opinion and be listened.
Someone is going to be responsible of letting the members
know ten minutes before the meeting is over to give their
closure and to respect their time.
