1. Context
For my Final Major Project I have decided to make a car style documentary as
my main product. I plan on creating an entire brand for my project and
presenting it all on a website aimed towards a target audience of other car and
car modification lovers. My reasoning for this specific subjectis becauseas a
child, I grew up watching a lot of Top Gear which grew into a love for cars. Cars
have always been a huge passion of mine and I would love watching loads of
films, documentaries and TV shows all about them, so now I wantto make my
own. I’venever been a huge documentary type of person unless its something
im extremely interested in. I will haveto do a lot of existing productresearch
to get more of an idea of whatsections and interviews, etc. need to be
included. I believe that if I choose a topic that im more passionatefor and have
a huge interest in then I will be more motivated to complete my work to a high
standard, this is important as I plan on going to University next year so I need
to work hard to make sureI get the highest grade possible. At the moment, we
are currently on our way out of a pandemic so it’s a difficult time as things will
slowly be getting back to normal and re-opening so it may be difficult to film
certain interviews, events, etc. but I will make a contingency plan to make sure
I have a back up plan in case anything goes wrong.
I have to think about my strengths and limitations when it comes to this task,
so in know how far I can push myself without going too far. I havecreated
multiple types of media since GCSEYear 10 and I have noticed my strongest
area has been in video editing. Film is my biggest interest going forward and is
the sector I wantto be involved with in the future so this project will give me
good experience and skills to achieve that. Im not solely doing a documentary
as I feel that doesn’tshow my wider skill set and shows im only limited to one
type of media. I will also be doing a little bit of graphic design for the website
and obviously websitedesigning using Wix. I am familiar and comfortable with
a lot of softwaresuch as Premier Pro for my documentary, Photoshop for
graphic design and Wix for website design. However, I do know my limitations
on certain softwareand certain features. I also currently have physical
limitations in terms of travel as I am still awaiting my driving test which is
scheduled for the 22nd
of April (if I pass) and until then I will be unable to travel
to certain locations for car meets, interviews and events.
