Hi, I’m Chiew Xia, a multimedia design student
who study in Saito University College.
My interests are in web designing, video editing
and photography.
This is my digital portfolio which has record my
study journey and artworks. Hope everyone enjoy it.
Through this chance of making digital portfolio, I have learn
that how to manage and design my information that I want to
deliver to others. I have also learn more about my characteristic.

I am Teoh Chiew Xia. I am a multimedia design student
who study in Saito University College. Born and raised
in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur. I’m interested at web
designing and video editing. I am willing to learn
and challenge new things to achieve more perfect
things. Currently, I am a SPM holder and taking
Diploma in Multimedia Design.
I study design is because of I like to watch video.
I am wonder how they produce out the video with
interesting effects. I am very interested at video fact.
I think that design is also a visual communication
between each other.Through it, even stranger, it also
can bring out the message that we want to deliver.

4. I am a team player and responsible person. I am proactive and will try to solve
problems by listen to other’s difficulties. I am an adaptable person and willing to
learn new things for making more perfect things.
For web designing, I have observe some interesting and neat websites as my
references. Meanwhile for videography, I also have seeing some tutorial video
onYouTube for learning extra knowledges.

5. My Passion
My dreams and goals are able to create different types of creative and innovative websites that can help
people for knowing more information and increase the communication between each other. I hope that
one day, I can become a well-known web designer. Responsibility and willing to learn will lead me to
success.
I am interest at web designing, video editing and photography. I like to use adobe dreamweaver and
wordpress for creating website. I also like to use premiere pro and after effects to edit video.
For web designing, my role model isVincent Marcone which is a Canadian web designer. His debut
website MyPetSkeleton.com was instantly recognized by some of the leading media entities and went on
to garner awards. For videography, my role model is Hayao Miyazaki. He had directed a lots of animation
movie. His studio which is Studio Ghibli have produced out a lots of good and deep impression
movie.All of his movie still famous although long time ago.

7. My learning journey
Web Design
I have learnt a lot of things from this subject as it contain a lot of knowledge to function Dreamweaver
and Wordpress for creating a website, how to making a creative and innovative website by using
advanced layout builder.
Sometimes, I may face some technical skills that I don’t know, I will asking from my lecturer about the
solution for solving the problem and do more practices on it and refer wisely to the creative and good
websites.
Everytime, when I finish my assignment, I will feel that accomplishment and happy. After learning this
subject, I am able to handle for creating business website and e-commerce website after reading the brief.

8. I have learnt a lot of knowledge from this subject as how to use camera shot, angle and movements
when shooting music video. I have also learn post production when learning this subject such as
effects editing.Through the videography lessons, I have realised that the effects are very important to
a movie.A movie that without any effects will not able to attract people eyesight.At the beginning, I
am not confident when doing the videography editing. But I will refer wisely to some video editing
tutorial, movie and music video which include a lots of creative and beautiful visual effects for produce
out a more beautiful video.
When I finish my artworks, I will feel happy because I win myself. So, when client give the group job, I can
handle the part that I am strong which is edit the video.

9. I have learnt a lots of interesting things while studying this subject. in Adobe Flash Pro. I learn that
how to use the code to control the button animation such as fade in and fade out. I had learn to
create an interactive kiosk for product in the last assignment.
While I doing the interface buttons and kiosk, I have realised that the label and instance name is very
important because it will affects the functioning of the buttons and kiosk. It may causes bug or crack
for the buttons. Sometimes, I may have some problems while typing the code or doing the animation,
I will asking help from friends and lecturer for solving the problems. I feel enjoy when doing the interface
design because it can learn a lots of things and shortcuts key in the software. I will know how to create
an interface kiosk and button based on the brief and requirements.

10. My learning journey
Computer Graphic Design
I have learnt a lot of things from this subject as it contains a lot of knowledge about how to create
artworks by using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I have also learn about how to use the tools inside
apps to create a beautiful artwork such as game magazine and wedding card.
After learning this subject, I realised that arrangement of the information is very important. It must have
flow and can attract to the focus point for the whole artwork. I have also realise that I still have
improvement on my arrangement skills, so I will ask my friends for helping me to solve this problem and
do more practices for making the artwork more perfectly. I feel happy while I finish my artworks. I can
create the logo and poster after reading the brief and needs from clients.

11. My learning journey
Digital Typography
I have learnt a lot of knowledge about how to choose the suitable font for theme. I have learnt about
the classification for the words such as serif, san-serif, old style and so on. From it, I can choose the
most suitable font that is match with the concept of the theme. I also that learn that how to use word
to making out an advertising video which called Kinetic Typography.
Through this subject, I have realised that the fonts really plays important rule in artwork and video.
The fonts will affects the meaning that brings out. It may occur misunderstanding between each other.
Sometimes, I not understand some effects, I will watching more typography video and observe from the
effects that used in video and try to understand what are the video want to brings out by using words.
I feel enjoy while learning more interesting fonts. I can handle for typography advertising after reading
the brief from clients.

Achievement
Saito University College Dean’s list Semester 5, 2018.
I am feel very honour when I getting the Dean list in Sem 5 with GPA 3.5 above.This motivates me to
put more effort when doing every assignment.

13. Success Story
My friends and I have organise a character re-design competition with the theme of “Transform”
which they have to redesign a game character setting no matter his or her visual or weapons.They
can use Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop while doing this competition. From this event, I have
learning how to organise an event .The competition is successfully organised.

14. Success Story
Saito University College, We’re Uniquely Different, Khidmat Masyarakat
Project, August 2018
A group of us from sem 6 and 8 have taking one of the most challenging subject which is Khidmat
Masyarakat where we are supposed to come out with a fundraising event and cummilate the fund to
donate them to charity.After the discussion, we decided to help an OKU organization which is Dual
Blessing. In this project, I am holding a position as treasurer to control all the money flow through-
out the whole event.As for our group, we decided to sell some handmade bookmark, postcard,
sticker, tote bag which are prepared by our design team. Besides, we have also sell Dual Blessing for
selling their handmade handcraft.

15. Success Story
Saito University College, We’re Uniquely Different, Khidmat Masyarakat
Project, August 2018
We have doing fundraising booth around college and Jaya Shopping Centre around 5 days. On the
19th August, we have going to Dual Blessing as a volunteer for helping in their bazaar.We help them
to set up the booth and counting the coupon that earn when the event over. All the money that we
earn was contributed to them and hopefully their wishes which is buying more Little FookVan can
be achieved as soon as possible.Through this activity, it makes me realise how grateful am I to live in
such a comfortable live,with the best education provided and the endless love and support show-
ered by my family. it is definetely a great opportunity to help out those less fortunate people and
able to interact with them knowing their stories too. I hope to continue able to help as many
unfortunate people as possible.
