2. The Kitchen
The first scene of our trailer will be shot in the kitchen of
one of the group members houses. The area is safe and
will allow us to spend as much time as we want in the
location. It is also free to use but we must be cautious not
to break anything as it is someone's home.
This setting will setup the mundane life that Francis is
appearing to lead. It establishes the sarcastic dark humor
that surrounds the tone of the film, through the making of
breakfast in the kitchen. The area provides lots of space
for the cast and crew to operate, making it easy to film
lots of coverage in the space of one day. The floor to
ceiling windows at the back of the kitchen provide lots of
light for the scene that will make the cinematography look
a lot more crisp and professional. The homely nature of
the kitchen will allow the actor to feel comfortable,
ultimately getting a better performance from her.
3. The Hallway
The hallway is continently located in the same house as
the kitchen. This means that all of the shots can be
completed in the same day, avoiding problems
associated with reshooting, trying to find slots when
actors are available, people turning up late etc. Also it is
located right next to the kitchen so snack will be available
to hungry actors.
It will build tremendous amounts of tension as Francis
creeps around the house, looking for her victims. The
tight corridors and worn out staircase will make the
house look creepy and build tension in the film. This is
successful in denoting the teen thriller genre for our
audience, making them feel uncomfortable and scared.
Also, the hallway has many power sockets so we can
plug in various lights to illuminate the scene, making it
look much more professional and adding to the overall
sinister nature of the hallway.
4. The Alleyway
The alleyway is located along the A312 in Harrow. It is a
short walk from the main house the we are filming in,
meaning that we can film the shots in the alleyway in the
daytime (when there is lots of light) and the house shots
at night (were we can take advantage of artificial lighting)
all in the same day. This provides convenience to our
actors who have other commits outside of school.
The alleyway can be filmed from both directions, making
it a sensible location to film in because we can connote
two contrasting moods in different shots of the same
location. It also has a really nice sharp bend that can
allow our main antagonist to creep up on the
unsuspecting individuals. The tress do shadow a lot of
light and the main road will provide lots of background
noise, factors we must take into consideration when
shooting.
