1. PR6: Client Brief and Treatment
In the following report, I shall be discussing who the client is, what exactly they want to
produce with us and what needs the would like in the advert. The treatment will state how
you will produce the advert and how much this will cost the client.
Our client is Island records. Island Records in an
international record label who have signed many
great artists such as Elton john, The Killers and Bon
Jovi. What they have asked us to do is create an
advertisement for the band Bon Jovi and their
upcoming tour, which is called “This House is Not
for Sale” which is the name of their new album. The
plan is to tell the audience about the tour and what
songs will be featured. So we will be featuring new
songs from the album as well as some of their
classic songs. Island Records have asked us to
include places you can get tickets. So we are going
to include the bands official website in order to add
promotion. We are also going to include other. Also
they want to have included a website being
mentioned at the very end. We have also said the
words coming soon, in order to raise suspicion and to keep the fans interested. Ticket prices
are not going to be included however because the tour dates are not released yet.
Treatment:
This advert is going to be informal as we aim to inform the masses about the upcoming 2017
tour which they are doing. What we can do at Future Skills is produce a fantastic advert for
the company which include the songs of past and present from Bon Jovi. The best thing
about playing both older and newer songs by Bon Jovi is that we can attract people of all
ages to listen. As Bon Jovi are still going and creating music, we can attract the newer fans
as they will recognise these songs, and with the older fans, we can play songs like “Living on
a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” as they will remember the good times they had
listening to these songs and connect with the band.
This advert is going to be using a produced script as we will have specific timings for the
background songs and which order they go in. We plan on playing the latest songs first as
we want people to have a little glimpse of the latest album if they have not heard it yet.
Then we plan on playing the classic songs as we want the majority of fans to recognise the
songs which they are playing on their tour. We plan to make it about 25-40 seconds as we
want to play a couple of snippets from songs as well as tell the audience vital information
about the tour.
We will be meeting the target audience needs as we are using little sections from their most
famous songs. We’d say the target audience is anyone from a teenager onwards as most
people have heard of Bon Jovi’s classics, but older fans will remember when that song was
first released. We’d say that in terms of class systems, any class can be interested in Bon
2. Jovi as they are one of the biggest rock groups ever, but judging from the last tour they did,
the tickets will be quite expensive, hence we have said any class because the middle classes
will be the most likely to buy the tickets as they will be costly.
The USP (Unique Selling Point) of this advert would be the fact that we have included the
bands older music rather than just promoting the new album. We will include the
company’s name at the beginning of the advert with Bon Jovi’s new album in the
background, then we will move on to their classic songs.
As the songs have already been produced, the budget for this advert will be low. Reasons
for this are because I will be doing the voice acting, and I don’t expect any money from this.
The only way I can see this advert costing any money is that we would have to pay a little bit
to broadcast the songs which are owned by the company. So at maximum, the advert
should cost about £10-£20.
