Sony Music Entertainment would be the best record label for our artist. Sony is well-known with similar artists to ours and is based in New York, the same area where our artist is from. Signing with Sony would allow our music to be distributed on Spotify, reaching a wider audience. However, Sony mainly signs already established artists and is an American company, which may not be the best representation for a UK-based artist. Technology can help distribute our music through various online platforms like YouTube and Spotify, but TV advertising may be better to directly promote our artist and songs.

Cherry Red Records are a small independent company situated in London, founded in 1978. I believe that they
would be a great place for our artist to start, as they have many years of experience and a wide range of known
artists such as Chaka khan and Elvis Presley . They could help launch our artist into the music world as we look
to build an infamous reputation for them.
BOY BETTER KNOW (BBK)
BBK is a British grime group and label, they were founded in North London in 2005 by Skepta and JME his brother.
This label includes Wiley , Jammer, Frisco , Shorty , DJ maximum and Tiny Tid Ed ; the label also includes the
founder Skepta and JME. This label would be a good label for our artists as BBK are well known artists to our
target audience of young adults aged 15-25.
ROUGH TRADE RECORDS
Rough Trade Records are another independent company based in London. They were founded in 1978 giving a
wealth of experience. In addition to their record label, Rough Trade also have their own retail shop which
would be highly beneficial as we could use the shop to help promote our artist. Rough Trade appear to be a
good option as they could Help launch our artists career not only as a musician but also as a brand. This is
therefore a use of cross media convergence as it is all owned by Rough Trade creating synergy.

6. For our final decision we have chosen to go for a record label like Sony music entertainment.
Sony contain artists that are very similar to ours which gives me the impression that they will
know how to handle a group like ours and also know how to promote them correctly so it
makes our artist more appealing a as they have the money to. They have many well known
artists that would then be associated to our artists as they are from the same record label,
which will promote them and also it could enable feature tracks. By signing with Sony we are
guaranteed a spot on spotify as they have 3 year contract this will distribute their songs
further and to a wider range of audience.
Sony music are a highly positioned record label to hire our artist however there are some
issues sony tend to only hire artists who have made it already and as they are an American
company they don’t really represent the artists who are from the UK. There have been
complaints as well as people being dropped and quitting such as Zayn Malik a member of the
famous group One Direction , he quit due to the fact that he was unhappy that sony was in
control of their music and didn't’t allow him to do a lot of features or solos.

7. Technology will allow us to distribute our artist to the fullest ,technology will enable us to use the internet
that can be used in many platforms such as game consoles, laptops , phones and tablets etc. By using the
internet to distribute our music video we can ensure it is seen to a wider range of audience an example of
this is when your watching a YouTube video and ad for a music video comes up but you cant skip it , this
makes the viewer watch it and become drawn to it and therefore promote it. The internet also enables
the use of spotify which sony have a contract with this will distribute the music even further, however
using an app like spotify wont allow the artist to have all the revenue as it only gives 0.01% of profit made.
But the internet; main focus being YouTube has discovered so many new artists that have gotten big over
the years such as Justin Bieber and Bonkaz who is a UK artist who is now signed to Sony music
entertainment.
Another way of distributing our music video through technology is through the Television , TV is
something that people regularly watch and everyone owns. To use TV to our advantage we can advertise
our music through other TV commercials' like a car ad an example of this is a car advert had a song playing
in the background and in the left hand corner had a shazam app logo so that people could shazam the
song so they could know what the song was, therefore promoting the song this will create revenue for the
artists and also give them more of a status to who they are.
