12. Theory Questions?
Q: How much do you think the production process will
cost?
A: Because I am on a low budget I will need to keep production
costs low so I will predict the cost to be around 5000 pounds
as a lot of the work will be done by myself and people we hire
wont be wont be played that much as we are a small company.
Q: Why have you chosen this target audience age?

website.
Editor's Notes
My football magazine will have multiple purposes however the main purpose for it will be to inform. It will do this by telling viewers where and when the football activities take place. This will aim to give the audience all the information they need to get involved with the local football.
The other purposes will be to entertain. This will be done by including interesting football stories around the area. This could consist of updates on the local professional clubs, for example, Stevenage football club and Watford football club but could also include a specific well known person.
The biggest competitor will be the larger more popular magazines which are sold throughout the country because they are very well known and have a larger budget on the magazine meaning they can produce an all round better magazine.
Some examples of competitors will be Match Of The Day which is a national magazine distributed all around the country.
After researching i found that there are no local football magazines in Hertfordshire resulting in a gap in the market. This allows me to fill this gap and make it slightly easier to make sales as there will be no local competitors selling the same genre as me.
Another competitor will be a local magazine like Hertfordshire Living distributed around the area but although they aren't part of the same genre they will still be big competitors.
There is an obvious genre to my magazine which will be sport but will be specifically covering the local football. It will include all codes and conventions of sport magazine, for example, vibrant and energetic colours, bold title, models or celebrity endorsements.
I decided to use the larger size, 8.5 by 11, because it will stand out compared to smaller sized magazines attracting viewers towards my magazine. This may make it more expensive to produce but I believe I will make more sales by doing this.
And lastly it will be released monthly because if I were to release it weekly I would run out of content for the magazine as it is only local and not international. Whereas if it was international there would be a need of constant updates.
My magazine will have two target audiences which are both male as the idea for my magazine will be promoting football and the majority of football fans are male
The primary audience will be older around 30 -60 years old. To attract this age range i will need to include images which could be of well known footballers around the area or just something that relates to football. I will also need to include text as the older audiences are attracted to readable stories and information.
The secondary audience will also be male but aimed at younger age specifically teenagers in the range of 12-18. I have chosen this age because more young people are getting involved in football so me providing them with information in a magazine telling them where watch or play will hopefully interests them and meet their needs. To catch the eyes of this audience will need to include more colour and bold text to stand out as well as images as younger viewers are know to be attracted to things with colour and images.
In the magazine it will have the same house style throughout. This means the layout will be similar on each page, for example, I will have my logo in the top right of the page on every page. All the colours will be the same throughout the magazine as well as font size colour and style
On the front cover of my magazine the title will be Herts Football clearly telling viewers what the magazine is about.
The font for the title will be Georgia Pro Black and the colour will be black. It will be located in the top left of the front cover, spreading across and down the page slightly, which follows the Z pattern as humans read from left to right and top to bottom.
It will then have some skylines underneath the title to tempt the customer into the magazine
The image is going to be of popular footballer from around the area, for example, Troy Deeney who plays for Watford. Then to the left of the main image it will include some article text relating to the main image.
DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD
Moving onto the double page spread it is going to have a very similar layout to the front cover following the house style with similar font style, size and colour. It will include 2 large images on each page which will be linked to the written content on the page. There will be a head line at the top of the left page once again following Z pattern and intriguing the audience as soon as they turn onto the page.
Within my magazine there will be a clear colour scheme of green white and black which are clear connotations of football as it relates to the football pitches. It is also going to have a consistent house style with the same colour scheme throughout the magazine as well as similar layout on each page and font style.
The font for the title will be Georgia Pro Black as it is a more professional font as well as being clear and easy to read. This font will be black to contrast the colour scheme of green and white.
The article font will be Arial Narrrow because it is more simple, clear and easy to read making it customer friendly. This font will also be black to again contrast the colour scheme.
To create this magazine, I will need a lot of equipment and personnel which could include thing like photoshop, which will allow us to edit the magazine to make it suitable for release, computers and monitors, which allow us to use the software.
The editor will also, obviously, edit the images and decide how the magazine looks.
In addition, we will need props and models for the photoshoot which may be celebrities, for example for us it will be Troy Deeney.
We will also need cameras to take photos, which will feature in the magazine. This means I will need a photographer to take these pictures to a high standard to make it look professional, someone to direct the photographer, this could be the editor or graphic designer as they usually play a big part in the production of the magazine.
a writer for the articles as well as a sales team to make sure the magazine is successful which will require software, like Quark to publish the magazine after all production is finished.
One effective way to market the magazine is advertisement on TV. If it was aired towards the end of the day it would target the older audience as the will be watching TV later in the day meaning the chance of them seeing it will be higher.
However, TV advertisements are very expensive and it is unlikely I would use them to market the magazine. Because of this It would be better to market It on social media and in other magazines or news papers as it’s a lot cheaper.
Some of the social media platforms I could use would be Tik Tok, Snapchat and Instagram which would attract my younger secondary audience as these platforms are used by mostly a younger people.
To attract the older audience I could use adds on platforms like facebook or twiter as they have an older target audience. However I could also use classified adds in other magazines or newspapers to attract the primary audience because they are more likely to read them.
