1. Advert and Setting
The whole advert is based around tea, both the characters in the
scene talk about how the PG teabag is better than a circular teabag
as it has more room to move, to make it more appealing and
comedic they also compared it to a digger to make it more humorous
and sarcastic. The setting is based in a normal house (in an unknown
location, probably in the countryside) the location and house doesn’t
really mean much because the cameras are focusing more on the
characters and the tea instead of the setting.
Camerawork
They use a variety of different camera shots for the whole thing, they
use long shots to show the whole scene and who is in the shot, they
have close ups to focus in on one of the characters or a part of
something, they also use extreme close ups to zoom in onto
something for an extra detail on what’s happening during that shot
and to focus the customer onto what’s happening.
Sound
To be honest, there isn’t much in the way of sound for this; there is
the dialogue of both the characters talking to each other, then during
the comparison of tea bags, there is a retro background music and
there is a bird near the end as a reference to the start of the advert
“like when you said there was an angry owl in the biscuit cupboard”.
Lighting
The lighting during this advertisement is bright everywhere, this is
because it is meant to be based around the time of morning in the
countryside where the sun has just come up and the surroundings is
bright to make it clear to be seen
2. Props/Costumes
The props that are used during this scene are mainly used for the
tea, the only exception is the newspaper that the monkey is reading
at the start of the scene, for the rest of it though, there is: See
through glass mugs, 2 teabags which are both different and a toy
digger.
The costumes during this scene have both the characters wearing
dressing gowns throughout this scene, this is because that it is set
during the morning, where people have just woken up and are
getting ready for the day.
Actors/Gestures
During the whole scene, they use Johnny Vegas (a comedian and
actor) for celebrity endorsement to persuade the customer into
buying the product because of the image that he represents, which is
funny and a good person for everyone, another famous character is
that they are using their mascot (PG Tips Monkey) which is also used
to persuade the customer more because of the image that he
represents for the business.
The gestures that both the characters give to each other doesn’t
really show much, the only gestures is when the monkey is
demonstrating towards Johnny Vegas about the tea, also when
Johnny gives the monkey a digger in a mug, and when Johnny takes
his mug and drinks it.
Visual Effects
They use an artificial light to give there more light in the background
to give the setting more light for it to see the surroundings better
and easier to see, they also have a puppeteer controlling the monkey
and what his actions are doing.
