2. Opening sequence of a film We are working as a group We have chosen to do the film opening because we didn’t like making a magazine, we found the film option more fun.
3.
4. Horror We like the way there is hardly any dialogue in the opening of the grudge, we think its effective because it creates atmosphere and tension. We also like the way it has titles in it, and when the words fade out certain words stay behind and turn red. The man doesn’t say anything and his facial expressions show that he is terrified of something, when he jumps off the balcony it draws the audience in and makes them wonder why he did it.
5. Target Audience Age- teenagers and young adults. Gender- any. Lifestyle- students. Students would like our film because they would be able to relate to the characters.
6. Our Idea For the whole film: It is going to be set in & outside of a house in the middle of nowhere. It is going to be a killer film, and the opening will introduce you to a killer and make the audience ask questions- why is he killing? Etc.
7. Our Idea For the opening: We are going to use titles coming of the screen and have images but have really quick editing. We are going to use sound over all of our opening, we will use eary/creepy music. We also like the fog effect and want to use it. We are looking to have no/very little dialogue in our 2 minute opening because we have the titles flashing on the screen and also it creates tension.
8. Character In our opening, we are only going to use two characters and focus on them and how they are represented and what effect that has on the audience. The characters are going to be teenage girls. There is also going to be a killer, but the opening won’t let you see the killers face.
9.
10. Setting Our opening is going to be filmed in a big house, in the middle of nowhere. We will put effects of darkness and rain when editing. The house inside will be really spacious to create atmosphere and make it eary.
11. Representation Characters: The two teenage girls are going to be represented as stereotypical teenage girls, drinking, gossiping, dancing/singing etc. The killer will be represented as mysterious, you will only see body parts like feet & hands. Location As our opening is a horror it will have to come across as being creepy. Generic conventions such as rain and darkness will be used in our opening.
