2. INTRODUCTION
For my preproduction Media Studies Foundation Port-
folio I carried out research into the way existing In-
dependent Fashion Magazines communicate with the
readers through front covers, content pages and dou-
ble-page spreads. I have analyzed the font styles, pho-
to types and garments displayed in the magazines that
combine altogether for the sake of the magazine being
succesful and appealing to the target audience. I have
worked towards designing and developing my magazine
in order to appela to the precise target audience.

14. CHOSENNAME
The name that I am totally satisfied with and decided
to choose for the magazine masthead is “ZING” due to
it being short, which will help with keeping the name
legible and readable even in smaller sizes. In addition
to that, the name is full of meaning and has no nega-
tive things associated with, which I cannot say about
one of my previous proposals, which was “CLOT”. The
name “ZING” is a combination of two words which are:
clothING and magaZINe, which, when you combine un-
derlined letters will spell out ZING.
18. CHOSENMASTHEAD
I have created custom lettering to create a perfect
masthead that would match the feel of the magazine I
am about to create. But alas, after some time spent on
thinking whether this option is the perfect one for my
magazine, I have come to a decision that it would not
hurt to try out a couple more variants just to be sure.
I have selected some quirky typefaces ranging from
weight regular to extrabold with different levels of
oddness and have come to a conclusion, that a font
named “Eckmanpsych” would perfectly reflect the es-
sence of the publication being bold, different from
others and innovative.
