1. How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary tasks?
2. From my research, I found media products
often have common features. For example,
the advert for Biffy Clyro's single "Mountains"
features the same image as the digipack
cover. I decided to try and emulate this in my
production.
3. My magazine advert's purpose is to promote
the album, meaning there must be a strong
link between the advert and the digipack.
Therefore, when the audience see the advert,
then they will hopefully think of the digipack.
4. My main priority was to keep the colour scheme of
both my magazine advert and digipack consistent.
By doing this, I hoped that when the audience seen
my advert, they would associate the colours to my
chosen artist, Biffy Clyro, and be reminded of the
album.I kept the dark red background consistent,
with red and blue text.
5. I also kept the font style the same throughout my
productions. I used the 'Gill Sans' font, as it was
basic and suited the Rock genre. I also found that
block capitals was a common convention in rock
music adverts and digipacks, so I used this
throughout my ancillary tasks.
6. In my opinion, this was the most important part of
keeping a consistency throughout my productions.
I used the same image of the actor, who also
featured in my music video, throughout my
ancillary tasks. This is because the audience will
recognise this actor as the face of Biffy Clyro, and
think of the band when they see this person.
7. Features of my ancillary tasks also overlap
with my music video. For example, both my
digipack and magazine advert feature
pictures of the actor in my music video. The
colour scheme also correspond with the
actor's blue and red shirt.
8. Overall, I think that my products combine
effectively. As I completed my digipack first,
alot of the features of the magazine advert
was inspired by my digipack, creating
multiple similarities. I believe that the
audience would be able to easily spot these
links and associate my products together.
