2. Location โ The Dance Studio
This location would be the potential location for
the photoshoot in the narrative. This is where the
actor will lipsync to the song and do the
performance aspect of the video. I would likely be
recorded during the day as this will provide
natural lighting for the video. However if the
recording were to take place at night, there would
be professional studio lighting, giving the
narrative realism.
The dance studio is a professional looking location
that allows for excellent lighting. It also reflects
the song as it is about the music industry. This
location, while ideal, will not be within the budget
as the cost of hiring the venue may be
extortionate. Furthermore the timing of activities
at this centre may clash with scheduling.
3. Location โ Piece Hall
๏ Both the performance and the narrative are likely to
be shot here. The shots for the dressing room could
be done in an empty unit that has been decorated
to look like a dressing room. The outdoor area
could be used for the perfomance and the actor
could interact with the setting while lip-syncing.
๏ This location has the potential to be used for both
internal and external shots as the dressing room
and the studio. With the availablilty of professional
lighting it would be available both at night and
during the day.
๏ This location is incredibly beautiful and shows an
element of culture. Being a landmark location, it
would promote the townโs versatility for production.
It would also allow for a variety of internal and
external shots as there are units available inside As
this is a public venue, the availability of it would be
dependent on the local council. Furthermore it
would not be ideal during rainy weather due to the
likelihood of damaged equipment.
4. Location โ Nathanโs bedroom
๏ This location would be used as a mock
dressing room for the main character of
the narrative. The bed would probably
be disguised to make the location more
suitable for industry and to reflect the
song. However it would reflective of the
target audience. This location could be
used both at day and night time as
there is good lighting at both times.
๏ One benefit of this location is that,
because it is owned by a friend, it is
extremely flexible to edit and use.
However due to the actorโs scheduling,
this might not be available all the time
and only for a few hours at a time,
causing scheduling to change at last
minute.
5. Location โ Mill at Dean Clough
๏ This location will only be used for the
performance aspect of the video, where the
actor will do the lip-syncing to the song. None
of the main narrative set in the dressing room
will be done here as this location is unsuitable
for that purpose.
๏ The mill would be ideal for a fake photo-shoot
as it contrasts the genre ideals of pop โ the
main aim of the song. It would also reflect the
artistโs image. However all shooting would have
to take place during the day as this area could
potentially be used for criminal activity after
dark, as well as the lighting situation.
๏ This location is aesthetically pleasing and
relates to the artist indie pop background. It
would also be relatively cheap to hire. Due
to the run down nature of the building, there
may be some health and safety issues with this
location such as broken glass and used
needles.
6. Location โ Shroggs Park
๏ This location would be, again, used for the
photoshoot in the narrative. Some of the
singing may happen here however the
majority may be done in the studio.
Shooting during the day would be vital due
to the only source of light being from the
sun. Shooting at night would require extra
lighting which isnโt in the budget.
๏ The open space and the variety of
background in this location would be handy
in creating a video with variety. Also the
setting would relate to the target audience
as young people often socialise here.
While a visually pleasing location, it has
absolutely no relation to the song, artist or
lyrics and would turn the video into a
disjuncture, which is not the aim of my
product. Also, as this is a public space, it
may be busy on recording days.
