WithinmyancillarytasksI hadto make a magazine feature article andafilmposterhavingone
landscape andone portrait.These can all be viewedonmyblog.Wheneverafilm comesoutthere
are alwaysfilmpostersandmagazine articlestoaccompanythe filmrelease.Thisisseenasa wayof
promotingthe filminorderformore people towatchit and increase filmsales.Whenmakingfilm
postersitmust have some sortof relevance tothe movie sothatwhenviewersseeittheycanget a
roughinterpretationof whatthe filmisgoingtobe about.
In our movie postersyoucansee thatwe use real life shotsfromourshort filmasthe mainimage.
Thisis so thatthe audience gainsa small glimpse of whatistobe expectedinourfilm.Inourfirst
posteryoucan see Emmanuel andhisbestfriendAlex bothstaringdirectlyintothe camera.
Wheneveryousee aposterwiththe mainprotagoniststaringintothe camerayou feel asif theyare
staringstraightat you and createsthe effectthattheyare watchingyouas you walkpast.Thisis
exactlythe effectwe wantedtocreate whendesigningthe postersothatthe audience canclearly
see the twocharacters withoutmissingthem.Withinthe posterwe hadaddedaquote from
someone whohadalreadywatcheditinorderfor the viewertosee the goodfeedbackthe movie
has gotten.Thisall addsup to whatmakesa good posterbecause if people seegoodreviewson
postersthenitwill almostmake themwanttowatch it straightaway.Our secondposterismuch
similartothe firstone howeverwe have amore engagingmainimage as we see Emmanuel andhis
arch-nemesisSolomonface toface witheachother.We decidedtogo aheadwiththisimage
because itshowsa visual representationof whattoexpectwhenwatchingthe filmwithoutrevealing
too muchabout possible plottwistsorspoilers.One thingwe didchange inthisposterwasthat we
decidedtoadda sloganwhichwas“Whenyou’ve losteverything, how farwill revengetake you?”
Thisslogangoeswell withourfilmdue tothe fact that Solomonwill doanythinginhispowertoget
revenge onEmmanuel forstealinghismoneyinthe past.
In the magazine feature article youcansee thatwe decidedtoadd a mainimage before we started
writingoutthe page.We decidedtochoose animage of the mainprotagoniststaringdirectlyinto
the camera as a close up shot.The reasonfor thiswas sothat the readercan see whatit’slike to
stare intothe eyesof someone whofeelsasif he’sgotnothinglefttolose.Downthe middle of the
image I hadwrote the tagline “Riskitall forthe Money”.The reasonwhyI done thisisbecause a
powerful taglinematcheswell withapowerfulimage.Ihadalsoaddedthe mainprotagonistsname
on the page too where the letter‘A’is.Thisaddsan extratouchto the page whichmakesiteven
more engagingforthe viewertosee.The reasonforthe layoutof our magazine feature article was
so that we still hadenoughspace totalk aboutour filmbutalsoso we couldwrite reviewsfeatured
inthe magazine too.Thisall addsup to makingourmagazine engagingbecause if areaderwantsto
knowmore about ourfilmthe firstthingtheywouldwanttosee is reviewssotheyknow whether
they shouldwatchitor not.Thisis whywe addedthis.We had alsoaddedtwoimagesinour
magazine toshowsome of the maincharacters.We evenhave a picture of the maincharacter
runningwhichiseye-catchingforthe audiencebecause theywouldwanttoknow whyhe isrunning.
Finallyatthe endof ourarticle we had decidedtoputa disclaimerforreaderswhichstates “If you
have a childthat youare concernedaboutplease donothesitate tolistentothem”.ThisstatementI
thinkgoesalongwithourfilm perfectlyasthe whole pointof ourfilmwastosenda message across
to parentsthat theirchildrencouldpossiblybe dealingwithgangrelatedproblemswhichcanresult
indeath.Thisis whywe are tryingto make themunderstandthatbeingthere foryour kidsat the
righttime couldsave themfromgoingdownthe wrongpath.
