2. Cover image
• The cover image shows a average girl and it
doesn’t indicate whether the girl is higher,
lower or working class. It also does suggest
hetrosexuality or homosexuality which if
you do not know the celebrity leaves room
for the readers opinion! The paint on the
face is quite abstract so it can be suitable
for girls a who are a bit different. But it still
has the girly element with the colours;
pinks, yellow, red etc.
• Additionally the hand covering the face is
slighty different and not a typical position
so it stands out. Also the fact that Lauryn
isn’t smiling goes against conventions of a
typical pop magazine but all these oddities
could be what’s drawing in the reader, as it
doesn’t represent the normal cover girl.
8. Article image• The article image is in black and white which is a huge
comparison to the front cover which is covered in colour,
but that makes it stand out more and gives the feel that it
isn’t a happy article. Also Lauryn isn’t smiling the photo
which suggests that its serious.
• The pose she is doing suggest she means business along
with the shirt she’s wearing.
• She hasn’t got gorgeous hair or make up which shows she’s
not put it full effort or is bothered!
Going just by the image, you cannot tell Lauryn’s sexuality, but
judging by the photo she looks in her 20’s which is around the
typical pop star age.
This image is slightly happier
showing a range of moment and
highlighting different points in the
article, the use of imagery is
important when writing a
magazine for a teenage audience
as they may just be flicking
through and don’t necessarily
want to read through all the text.
So a range of images portraying
different emotions is suitable for a
youthful audience.
9. Article image
• The screenshot of a social media post helps
connecting it with most teens and
represents a wide audience (94% of teens
use social media), it also makes the
celebrity seem more humane and making a
pop star become an achievable goal! This
social media screenshot makes the story
feel more real and also promotes Lauryn’s
Instagram page!
10. Body of text
• The text consists of quite a dark story which tells Lauryn’s history of abuse and how she
escaped it. I storyline like this drags in an audience because of the harsh reality but also
because this is a returning celebrity who’s on a come back after years out of the music
industry! Although this magazine seems to be aimed at teenage girls this story could also
appeal to older women who perhaps are in a similar position or have similar experience and it
could also bring in a male audience as abuse isn’t just female orientated!
• Also the music is brought into is hand in hand when she talks about bringing out her new
album when can attract fans, old or new!
