2. Front
Cover…
This image represents women as
positive beings. The girl used in
the image is not used as a sexual
object. The clothing she is
wearing are not provocative and
the serious face suggests
sophistication. All throughout my
magazine I want to display
women using dominant ideology.
This image is in
the context of the
jail scene, but the
audience
For this image, it is dominant understand the
ideology as the target audience joke and thus
reading this magazine may see their view on the
young people as criminals who image changes
often get into trouble. This is
also a very stereotypical scene.
Their behaviour enforces this
as they have serious faces and
are wearing informal clothing
3. Contents
Page… This image is not positive as she is alone and is
looking up at the camera, which could suggest
that she her social class is lower. This could also
be residual ideology. But the audience know that
this is just acting and that she has the same
rights as everybody else does. It is also because
the image has a slight negative tone to it.
These three images relate to the picture
on the front cover, but they are individual
images on a white background with a
height chart.
The stories featured in my magazine are
very formal and the language used is
quite formal. This connotes my audience
is sophisticated and confirms my choice
of audience for my magazine.
This image represents women as
talented. This is because she is
playing a guitar.
4. Double Page
Spread…
This image is
dominant
ideology
because older
people believe
that some young
people are
criminals and
damage
property.

This image represents youths in a
bad manner because he is holding
a graffiti can and the image is in
black and white, a negative tone.
5. Colours…
• I have used colours in both positive and negative ways in
my magazine. The dark colours on my double page
spread represents youths in a negative manner, but on
the other hand the white represents purity and health. I
wanted to give a balanced view on young people as they
are mostly known as wreck less by the older generation.
But not all young people are like this, most are kind, well
understood individuals.
• I used the brighter colours such as red to attract my
audience, as the colour is bright, bold and eye catching.
The logo of my magazine is even more eye catching
because the neutral white tone is placed above the red
background.
• On Adobe Photoshop, I made one of the images look
warmer by adjusting the colour contrast ratio. This
represents women as bright and caring
6. Fonts
…
• To attract a younger audience, I used a sans serif font for body text
as I didn’t want the magazine to look too formal, but for the double
Serif Sans-Serif
page spread I used a sans serif font because the main target
audience are slightly older and are more sophisticated than a
younger audience.
• For the name of the magazine, FYE I used the font “Impact”, which Impact
as the name suggests make a big impact on the font, as the font is in
bold which attracts the audience.
• The “Vs” phrase represents a font from the wild west, which links into
the headline “Evan Vs The World”. This denotes that she on her own
has to face the world with her music. This could also represent that
her fight with the world is like a western gunfight, and there can only
be one winner.
• I included a drop cap in my double page spread, which makes the
double page spread look more professional.
7. Layout
…
• Throughout my magazine, I have a three
column layout style. This creates a very
simplistic, minimalistic style and the lines that
I placed separate each part of the text.. This
makes the product look more professional
and is used in most magazines.
• Because I have a specific layout style, the
magazine represents the target audience
because if you look at magazines for
younger audiences, there is no general
layout style
