1. The target audience for my product is middle
class girls between the ages of 16-22 who are
interested in pop/RnB music, fashion,
the latest trends and having fun. When doing
my research I shared a survey on Facebook
asking questions such as their gender and age,
the majority being female between the ages of
15 and 25. I also asked how much would they
be willing to spend on a music magazine, most
responded with quite a low price meaning they
probably don't have loads of money to be
spending on magazines and because people read
so much online these days it is necessary to
keep the price low to make it attractive to buy.
I represented this audience throughout my
magazine by using certain colour
schemes, language and images. Although that’s
the specific audience I'm aiming to intrigue you
don't necessarily have to be in that
category, everyone is welcome to read my
magazine.
2. A way in which I have represented
my audience is through colour
schemes. At the start of my
research I thought my magazine was
going to be a lot more girly than the
final product.. Although it's still quite
girly it has a more
mature edge. I didn't really use a lot
of the colours that I set out to use. I
did not use bright colours as they can
appear childlike and that wasn’t the
image I was going for. I used black
and white and pastel colours as they
are much more sophisticated.
As you can see from the dummy
layouts I did set out to use a lot
more bright colours than I actually
did. As I was making the magazine I
developed the colour scheme
along the way to get the final look I
The was the
original colour scheme
for my magazine.
3. Another way I represented my
audience was through language and
writing styles. The texts are informal.
This can come across as
exciting for younger readers and
creates a relationship between them
and the writer, the reader is made to
feel like it is just a normal
conversation between the
two and they feel like they are
involved in the magazine.
The writer tries to talk the same
language as the people reading, as
they are older teenagers 'slang' and
informal words are used throughout
the magazine.
This reflects the language this age
group uses when talking among
themselves and helps to create
common ground between the writer
and the reader. It makes the readers
feel understood and reinforces the
feeling of involvement.
