2. Genre choices:
For our teaser trailer, we have decided as a group
we will create a teen horror.
The reason for choosing a hybrid? Because we're
able to market and promote off till wider audience
and massive variety of people in order to gain the
most revenue. Furthermore, by choosing a higher
print your mother, be unable to create an individual
and unique film as well as we will be combining
different conventions each online order to create
more contrasting film trailer.
I have been inspired by two films from the hybrid
genre, ‘the Blair witch project’ and ‘scream’. I
thought inspiration from both aspects of this order
to balance those aspects from the hybrid genre so
that when creating our teaser it isn’t predominantly
focused on one jumper.
3. Characters:
We have decided to base are teaser trailer onto main characters which are both Young teenage females.
They are both best friends who are famous bloggers who decide to take a trip to the haunted woods. One
female ‘Katie’ is a little bit scared of the woods and is frightened of what's going to happen where as
other ‘Daisy’ is excited for the adventure which shows that differences in their characters. Within the
horror genre typically at least one person will die, so therefore they want to keep the typical codes and
conventions and make one of the characters die. However because this is a teaser trailer we don't want
to give too much away so therefore we probably wouldn't show one of the characters dying.
In both ’the Blair witch project’ and ‘scream’ lot of characters tend to die. Horrors are supposed to be
gory and show lots of Blood and scary images. These two films are no different to this a lot of the key
characters die he wouldn't of expected to. This tends to shock the audience and is the kind of thing we're
looking to do I'm making our teaser trailer. We want the suspense and tension to be high so that the
audience on their feet and excited to see what's coming next.
Although the two female characters are very different, we both are very good friends and enjoy the same
activitys. This is common in teen films as the main characters tend to be very close to each other
friendship once this is very common in team films as they tend to be very close to each other. The horror
element is the shocking element because it's where one of the main characters who you don't thinks
going to die ends up dying. If we was to do this in our teaser trailer, then we would be conveying some of
the key codes and conventions that teen horrors use.
4. Setting:
A typical setting that are used in teen horrors are usually places
that teenagers typically would hang out. These can be places like
schools, the woods, parks, abandoned places and even their
houses. These would be them more stereotypical types of places
that they would find in teen horror films as these places have room
for suspense and tense moments.
The way in which we are going to create a suitable setting in which
will reflect both of the genres the best narrative and what is
happening in a particular scene by combining both typical settings
from both typical horror and teen locations.
Four example ‘scream’ is set in both the college and the school.
Therefore in our film we will probably also use at least two setting
which may include a bedroom and the woods. I think that these
would be good settings to use because they are two of the more
scary typical horror settings.
5. Narrative:
The plot to teaser trailer is very simple but effective. Although it may seem like a copy of ‘the
Blair witch project’ I can assure you that is completely different. Our story is based on two
famous bloggers who decides to do a challenge of the staying overnight in Huckleberry
Woods. Huckleberry Woods is meant to be one of the most haunted woods in the UK
however, they would do anything for their viewers and therefore decided to take a risk and
heading to sleepover in the woods. It starts off okay but then slowly think start to go wrong
and they start to see a haunted figure here in certain areas of in The woods. If you want his
figure starts trying to kill them and in order to escape eight and up separating. This isn't good
at all. The haunted figure manages to kill one of the girls. But one lives to tell the tale.
I think that because this has teenagers in and also is based around the whole U-tube thing
that this post to a teenage audience as well as a horror audience. This is good because it
means it's reaching out to more than one audience, therefore hopefully being viewed by more
people. I think the narrative is showing the typical codes in dimensions of teen horror.
