1. WHAT KIND OF MEDIA
INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA
PRODUCT AND WHY?
2. What is film distribution?
Film distribution is the process of making the film able to view by the
audience. The professional film distributor will determine the marketing
strategy for the film, who will set the release date, the media they will
use to exhibit the film and how the film maybe be exhibited to the public
either through viewing like tv, movie theatre, on-demand or through
listening like broadcasting or radio.
4. Who will be interested in my film?
Our Film is a psychological thriller about A brother who accidently kills his brother by pushing him
infront of a car. The car does a hit and run and leaves him deverstated. His guilty conscience believes
for him to still be alive till he remebers every that happend. He then has to somehow find the person
that left his brother to die to avenge his death all the time in his mind, his brother is watching him. As
our film is very psychological it is very similar to the films the sixth sence and the shutter island. Sixth
Sence distributors are: Hollywood pictures and spyglass entertainment. The shutter island main
distributor is Paramount. I think these distributors would distribute our film because they would see
that it has lots of potencial. Although they are big distributors, they know that the other films that the
psyhological thrillers they have already distributed have been very popular and this shares alot of
similar elements but has a different story line. The only thing that would possibly put the distributors
off is the lack of famouse actors and therefore they may feel like they would dtruggle to distribute the
film.
5. Who will my film appeal to?
I think that my film will appeal lots of different audience both in the UK but also outside the UK too.
I believe this because our film has a strong unique selling point as it is not very stereotypical and it
provides escapism for the audience. Our unique selling point is that it had been made by students
and its from the midnd of us and from our point of view, i think this is a uniques selling point in its
self as not many films are made by teenagers and i think its a good unique selling point to have as
its going to have fresh ideas in it. I think that our film conveys the genre really well and could
possibly change the minds of people who dont even like psychological thrillers because it
incorpriates lots of different genres as well its just that its main one is psychological thriller. I think
that americans would like this film because they are known for liking scary films and this would
defiantly have some scary scenes in it. I also feel like even though its a UK a film, americans will see
some resemblences to some of their films too and therefore it would expand the audience.
Audiences need to be able to feel like the film is real to really leave the audience engaged as well as
having lots of tense moments which our film does provide.
