4. Is there a strong brand identity?
Poster
I do believe that there is a strong identity as the use of dark colors capture the eyes of the viewer. Red conveys bloods and
danger and in one of the poster the balloon is red showing that the child to drawn to it.The child in yellow conveys innocence,
happiness and joy and it gives the impression that 'IT' is going to take something away from the child. The use of red balloon really
stands out grabs the attention of audience and it really has them questioning why is this red balloon important. The phrase "you'll float
too" stands out as it is reference to the balloon that the clown holds. But we don’t really know what this means but maybe the balloon
is a way to bring people to the clown.
Trailer
The trailer gives a strong identity that there is something lurking in the town. The trailer makes sense and you can follow
everything that is going on. It captures the essence of horror. As 'IT' creates fear and brings tense. It doesn’t give too much away
creating suspense. The character in the yellow conveys how this person plays a huge part of the film maybe as it is in the trailer and the
poster. The slow music builds up tension and the voice over gives the viewer an insight of what is going on.What are you afraid makes
the audience question themselves about their own life.
What common elements can you identify?
The common elements that I can identify is the characters e.g. child in the yellow coat, the bunch of children who go looking in the tunnels. The main villain IT. The title of
the name of the film as well as the release date of the film. The film genre is portrayed through both the trailer and the poster, the sense of not really knowing what is
happening but you are drawn in. The tagline is used in the trailer and poster and it is a way of telling the audience if you come too you will be able to float too.
Do all three products suggest the same genre? How?
I believe that the poster and trailer give away the same genre when looking at the main poster which is the one of the right. Horror consist of a dark tagline
which is shown in the poster. The use of dark colors and the title of the name is the same in the trailer. The color red conveys danger, fear, blood, fright and
terror. It bring an unsettling mood and has the audience on the edge of their seats. The genre is also conveyed by a threating figure or monster in this case is
the clown. a innocent child or person and as shown in the poser and trailer is the child in the yellow coat. The font of the text IT is like someone has written it
like it has been written with blood.
5. Do all three products suggest the same narrative? How?
The 2 products suggest the same narrative when looking at the main poster and comparing it to the
trailer. The storyline in the trailer feature the characters in the poster. The villain 'IT' on a hunt to hurt
people for what reason we do not know. The child is in the trailer and plays a part in the poster too.
The red balloon plays a huge part as it is a way of 'IT' capturing children e.g. the mid shot of the child
in the library and the balloon in the background floating away and another shot is the long shot of
the boy walking up to balloon.
Do all three products represent the characters in the same way?
The character are represented in the same way. For example the 1st poster is the children all looking
scared and in the trailer that is what happens they get scared and face 'IT'. 'IT' is in the back ground it
matches his personality in the trailer creepy scary and wants to bring terror to others. The use of the
blur on the poster conveys maybe the child get lost the mist of trying to figure of out what "IT" is.
The second poster shows just the child in the yellow coat.Yellow coat shows happiness and joy but it
is in the dark conveying that the child is lost in darkness and something is going to get it.The trailer
conveys how the child was lost and happened to come across the drain and see "IT".The last trailer
show again the child in the yellow coat bring drawn in by the red balloon and we know that balloons
is something that engage children and "IT" knows that child will be interested and this shows that
the child is drawn to the red ballon but doesn’t know what is behind it.
6. • Who is the target audience and what suggests this? Is theTA the same for all three products?
The target audience would be teenagers and adults I believe the things that suggest this through the
trailer as it typical for teens and adults to watch horror films the storyline is simple and interesting and
the trailer doesn’t give too much away. The use of the children would show that they first
target audience is teenagers as a adult wouldn't watch a film about children but the genre brings
different ages together. I believe that the poster with the children is catered to teenagers and the other
2 are towards everyone as the use of genre brings out the poster e.g. the red balloon and the hidden
figure holding it as well as the child.
• Why might the magazine cover be different in style to the trailer and poster?
The magazine cover is catered to everyone as a magazine cover already has its established
target audience and.The film company have to find a way to fit their film into the magazine cover. But
the magazine cover have more say as their own it.The trailer and poster have their unique selling point and
use the magazine to help them promote it more. Magazine cover usually feature the main character I
wasn’t able to find one for this film.
