2. Our Idea/Plot
Synopsis:
• Group of friends go camping in woods.
• Huge supernatural storm, one of the friends goes missing.
• This friend has no form of communication with the other members and
suffers with mental health issues.
• Rest of the friends start getting lost whilst looking for the missing friend.
• Struggle to work out where they are in the woods.
• Eventually find clues about missing friend-missing friends bag.
• Eventually find the friend in critical condition, taken to hospital.
3. Promotional campaign
• The main aspects of the film that we are planning to emphasise In the marketing process is the
supernatural storm and the character representation of Will who is different to the other
characters because of his reserved personality yet he plays a very important role in the film as he
is the one to find the clues about Annie (the missing girl).
• We believe the storm is a good USP for the film as it brings a different aspect to the film that
hasn’t been seen before. We will use a theme of lightening when advertising our film to stand
out and become a recognisable campaign with a reoccurring theme.
• We will market the film in a variety of ways including a teaser trailer, poster, magazine articles and
front cover feature, social media and interviews with stars of the film.
• Also creating social media accounts will be a good way to connect with our target audience (15-
24) as nearly everyone that age has either a twitter, Facebook or Instagram account so this will
allow them to stay updated with the film on release and build up to release.
4. Poster Ideas
• Close up of face is very reoccurring for supernatural
horror film posters
• Dark colours to emphasise the feel of the film
• Simple colours
• Face on the poster is the face of someone who has
gone missing
• Facial expression is always either worried, scared or
someone who looks as if they are screaming
5. Target Audience
• Our target audience is females and males aged 15-24.
• From our research into thriller/horror films, such as the Blair Witch, it shows that the largest viewers are
aged between 15-24.
• Our target audience should have an interest in horror and thriller films, as well as the supernatural.
• They will also likely be young thrill seeking people so that they'll be more likely to want to watch our
thriller/horror film.
• We will reach our target audience via our promotional campaign. More specifically, we will reach them
using social media because most young people will use at least one social media platform, therefore this
is a quick and easy way to reach most or if not all of our target audience at once.
6. Teaser Trailer
ideas
• Start with continuity editing at the beginning of the group of friends
going into the woods, getting settled down.
• The friend that goes missing already has a suspicious view about the
woods, senses danger.
• An idea for the next part of the trailer would be a montage edit of
different clips within the film of the scenes where things are going
wrong- people going missing, finding suspicious clues, getting lost
within the woods.
• We will introduce all 4 characters in our teaser trailer.
• The trailer will be suspenseful and build up to a fast pace to make sure
the film comes across with a high intensity.
7. Magazine
Cover Ideas
We wanted something similar to the poster ideas, so
using the idea of showing a face as the front cover. Also,
as a magazine cover we could have more than one face
and introduce two characters as the front of a magazine
cover so its slightly different like this one.
The colours that we would use would probably be similar
to the poster colours that we have decided to choose,
so very dark and simple colours and lighting linking to a
supernatural horror which have similar colours for there
posters and magazine covers.
