Real facts and issues had been presented in detail manner and also with scope of solution for each particular problems .
2. INDEX:
• INTRODUCTION.
• FIELD WORK IN DETAIL.
• DRAINAGE SYSTEM TYPES, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS.
• PLASTIC.
• REDUCTION OF ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION IN LPU.
• CONCLUSION.
3. INTRODUCTION:
• Environment is Sum of the total relationships among
themselves and also with human beings and other living
organisms and property.
• Even Our Campus revolves/surrounds with the environmental
issues.
• At LPU there are no separate dustbins for papers or
Stationary, liquid waste and solid waste, all these things are
dumped into same dustbin which cause environmental issue.
• The drainage System which doesn’t co-operate in its best way
in raining season and its odor smell which hesitate the
student passing by .
• Students are not in will to maintain reusable water bottles
and buying plastic bottles which is an environmental issue.
4. Drainage System of LPU:
• A Recent study shows that good drainage system reduce
diarrhea incidents by about 30%.
• In this record its presence of efficient drainage system
should be properly
constructed and ventilated because the smell may causes
suffocation.
• Treatment of waste water is one of the important steps to
prevent contamination
of urban underground water.
Dustbins:
• Survey on usage and wastage of litter.
• In India litter disposal Strategy is simple find a vacant site
and dump your
litter and people don’t think litter disposal is a priority.
FIELD WORK IN DETAIL:
5. Electricity Wastage:
• Students some time forget to switch off electric appliances before leaving
their rooms or classroom. Using water coolers in winter is not necessary.
6. Drainage System Types, Problems and Solutions:
Lawn drainage/ground drainage:
• Cause due to soil composition ,land grading and
other pertinent factors ,drainage systems are often
needed to keep landscaping from becoming over
saturated or flooded where poor drainage is a
problem.
• Its not the excess rainfall but its is the
development which have taken place for the last
15 years, causing flooding in township.
• Construction of buildings, roads, etc. Have reduced
the natural seepage of rainwater through the soil
profile and enhanced the surface runoff, thereby
causing flooding in the area.
• The existing drainage network should be cleaned
regularly and extended to receive the maximum
flow rate if possible
7. Drainage Problems:
• Different drainage problems including puddling,
pooling ,saturated soil and even undirected
downspout water can destroy landscaping and turn
a backyard into swamp.
• It creates moisture and mold problems and can
damage home foundations, etc. Strict step should be
taken before related problems get worsening.
Solutions:
• French Drain: This a popular drainage method
commonly use in residential applications. Consist of
trenches that hold perforated pipes filled with
gravel and buried which diverts it elsewhere,
usually to public sewers.
• Dry Well: Similar to a French drain, the main
difference is that instead of being diverted to an
underground well her it can be dispersed backed to
soil. This is very environmentally friendly answer to
drainage concerns.
8. Flood situation in LPU in
Monsoon 2017.
Corrugated Tubes: These above
ground are
used to direct downspout water
away from buildings when using
tubing.
Grassy Swale: DSC say this is
another natural means of diverting
water away from buildings
Planned Bog: This method is used in
conjunction with some of the other
methods to divert water away from
buildings and allow to pool in one,
dedicated area that is planted.
9. Plastic:
• A wide range of synthetic or semi
synthetic organic solid materials suitable
for the manufacture of industrial
products.
• It is polymers of high molecular weight.
Disadvantages:
1)Decomposition
2)Non renewable
3)Hard to reuse
4)Difficult to recycle
5)Toxic
7)Threat to animals.
10. Plastic Pollution:
• Its accumulation of plastic products.
• Composed of toxic chemicals,non-biodegradle
substances.
• Polyethylne, polyvinyl chloride ,polystyrene is largely
used in manufacture of plastic.
• Plastic Consumption in India:
• More than 1/4th consumption of PVC in India.
• India generates 56 lakhs tones of plastic waste
annually.
• 1tonne=20,000 plastic bottles.
How to reduce plastic consumption:
• Strict rule should be implement by LPU over large
use of plastic bottles and bags by food court venders.
• Implementation of different dustbins i.e. separate
dustbins for stationary things, plastic,etc.
11. • Consuming of electricity in LPU suppled by
PUNJAB GOVERNMENT.
• Punjab Govt. is supplying 4 Mega Watt every
month.
• Electricity bill is approx. 2 crore per month.
• Electricity at LPU 24X7.
Electricity consumption at LPU:
• Mostly consumed in hostels than in blocks.
• In Hostels electricity is consumed by appliances like
geysers,air conditioners and coolers.
• Where as in other blocks of LPU. Mostly consumed
by laboratory equipment's such as computers and
other electrical equipment's.
Reduction of electricity consumption in LPU:
12. Usage of electricity:
• By lift per flow is 2.5WH.
• Fridge :350W per day.
• Air cooler :4KW-6KW per every 10 hours.
• Laptop :70 to 80 W per day for 4 hours.
• Air Conditioner :0.7KWH
• Electric Kettle:1.5 to 3KW per hour.
13. Measures to reduce electrical Consumption:
• Switch off all lights and fans when they are not
in use.
• Unplug unused electronics and appliances.
• Instead of electric geyser we can use solar
geysers.
• Try to use natural light.
• Try to sleep as early as possible which reduces
usage of lights and it is beneficial for our own
health.
• Although we have solar plants which
producing only little amount of electricity if we
increase the production it will be beneficial to
our nature & us too.
14. Conclusion:
• Atlas it is not only the issue of our
campus but its is a global issue.
• To find a clear solution for this things is
solely depends on every human being
present on this earth.
• All matter is the “FIRST STEP” towards
protecting ,supporting and creating
awareness among us and save the
nature.
