1. Title: Divisional Fruit and Veg Manager
Main purpose of function:
To control and coordinate all functions of the Fruit and Vegetable department in a specified region
and or number of specified stores. To deliver retail profit in the produce department by focussing on
all the contributing elements to such profit. Providing a service in the form of knowledge,
information and competence development to Fruit and Veg controllers and maintaining Shoprite
standards.

A. SALES/GROSS PROFITt/ NET PROFIT
Develop growth strategies in conjunction with Freshmark and Shoprite to meet sales targets.
Compare sales information against benchmark and take corrective action to address issues. Control
input gross margin to stores in conjunction with Freshmark. Control sales (volume) targets versus
gross margin (Rand value) targets. To maintain all aspects of the contribution statement to ensure
profitability.
B. PRODUCT ORDERING
Examine usage requirements. Coordination of stock levels of country and local stores relating to
scheduled deliveries. To ensure that quality standards are met by Freshmark. To allocate product at
competitive prices according to market trends, product availability and customer demand.
Overseeing range and season availability of product. Value added customer service. Liaising with
buyers relating to product demand.
2. C. RANGE
Define range per store including key value items and value added products. Maintaining product
range and stock levels. Analyse market trends.
D. MERCHANDISING
Recommendations to development regarding space allocation, layout and product requirements in
preparation and sales areas. Create excitement for seasonal lines and promotions to drive sales.
Oversee requirements of equipment used.
E. MARKDOWNS
To control in store prices according to product movement and pricing. Ensure buyers markdowns are
done according to proper price pointers and consistency.
F. SHRINKAGE
Implementation of guidelines and systems to minimise stock losses.
G. ADMINISTRATION
Ensure that all documentations is complete in the prescribed way. Recording and reporting of gross
profit. Ensure that all the necessary documentation reaches the divisional office on time.

Examine staffing structure vs projected sales
I. GENERAL
Ensure optimum usage of trailer space in accordance with delivery schedule. Ensure containers
movement between stores and Freshmark remain ongoing. Ensure stores receive deliveries
according to requirements. Ensure system orders with Freshmark are generated accordingly. Review
frequent route planning and recommended changes. Coordinate distribution of POS material.
Coordination of advert pricing and requirements.
