estowed with the rare and exotic Himalayan flora, the
Valley of Flowers is a bouquet of nature peacefully
snuggled in the West Himalayan region of Uttarakhand.
The trek of Valley of flowers goes through dense forests,
along with Pushpawati river and can be reached by crossing
many bridges, glaciers and waterfalls on the way. “Preparation
is underway to build a ropeway to facilitate a visit to Hemkund
Sahib ji,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said during his visit
to Kedarnath on November 5 last year. Once built, it will also serve
the Valley of Flowers, which is UNESCO World Heritage Site, as the
Valley trek falls halfway to Hemkund Sahib.

PROFILE IN REGION
While the region has OBC,
Upper castes and Dalit
domination, there are eight
districts Mainpuri, Etawah,
Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad,
Aurrayya, Kannauj and
Farrukhabad which are
Yadav dominated. It is for
this reason the area is called
“Yadav land”. Muslims are
scattered in pockets.
Yadav land crucial for power contenders
During last Assembly polls in 2017, BJP bagged 49 seats while Samajwadi Party got 8 and Congress, BSP clinched
one seat each in the region. All the 13 seats of Bundelkhand going to poll in this round were captured by the BJP

Jaipur: Having take
over the charge of
Chief secretary of Ra-
jasthan, Usha Sharma,
who had been review-
ing departments one
after the other at Secre-
tariat since assuming
charge, is all set to step
out of her office, and
move into the ‘field’ for
the first time as CS.
Sharma will chair a
meeting of two depart-
ments of the JDA - UDH
and LSG. Notably, the
meeting was earlier
scheduled for Sunday,
February 20, however,
the schedule was
changed.
According to knowl-
edgeable sources, this
is perhaps the first in-
stance when a CS is
heading to JDA for
meeting. In fact, there
are two interesting co-
incidence between the
upcoming meet and
Usha Sharma. She
served as JDA Commis-
sioner in the year 2003
and after nearly two
decades, she will be
reaching the same of-
fice and relive old mem-
ories. Secondly, she will
be reviewing the UDH
department of which
she held the reins in
the year 2004-05. So she
will learn about the
present state of affairs
and the condition of
the department, fifteen
years later.
JDA has undergone a
complete metamorpho-
sis in the past years and
due to dozens of pro-
jects and new works,
Jaipur has been com-
pletely transformed.
Developments works
are going on even today
and JDA reins are cur-
rently in the hands of
its young and energetic
Commissioner Gaurav
Goyal. CS Usha Sharma
has to still direct offi-
cials to complete works
in a time bound manner
since delay in projects
in JDA’s biggest nega-
tive point.
The UDH is working
in a commendable man-
ner under the direction
and monitoring of cur-
rent UDH minister
Shanti Dhariwal who
has literally trans-
formed Kota city
. More-
over, the works under-
taken by Housing Board
under its Commission-
er Pawan Arora’s com-
mand, it could be said
that neither have such
works been done in the
past and perhaps never
will such works be done
in future. Chief Minis-
ter Ashok Gehlot has
even publicly patted
RHB Commissioner
Pawan Arora on several
occasions.
Although it has been
ten months since 1995
batch IAS Kunji Lal
Meena was appointed
as Principal Secretary
of UDH, however, slow-
ly and steadily he is
making his grip strong-
er in the department.
Usha Sharma can thus
be happy that her old
department is in a good
condition.
In the second session,
the meeting regarding
LSG will be conducted
and this department is
in tatters. For a long
time, Bhawani detha
was the secretary of the
department and Deep-
ak nandi was the Direc-
tor, however, due to
their poor performance,
CM Gehlot had publicly
scolded them. In fact, in
the ‘Prashasan Shehro
ke Sang’ campaign, the
LSG failed to give any
result.
Due to this, in Janu-
ary this year, the state
government trans-
ferred both Bhawani
Detha and Deepak Nan-
di from LSG and two
young and capable offic-
ers have been appointed
here as Jogaram has
been appointed Secre-
tary while Hridesh
Sharma has been ap-
pointed Director. The
Chief secretary can
give directions to this
‘young team’ as to what
they can do to improve
the image of LSG.

RAPE ON PRETEXT OF MARRIAGE
Acase of raping a girl on the pretext of marriage has
come to light in Ajmer. The victim has also alleged the
accused of forcing for an abortion, keeping her in a rented
house and blackmailing her with photos and videos. The
victim, has given a complaint in the SP office and said
that on the pretext of marriage, he also transferred
money from her account and sold a gold chain.
The death of the gang-rape vic-
tim of Nagaur and the murder
of a girl student in Kota are
the examples of the Congress govern-
ment’s misgovernance and deteriorat-
ing law and order.

committed suicide by hanging
himself in a private flat on
Saturday morning. On infor-
mation, the city police reached
the spot and sent the body to
Govt Amritkaur Hospital for
post-mortem. A large number
of people reached the hospital
after receiving the news of
Rahul’s suicide. According to the info, 30-year-old
Rahul Chaturvedi son Murarilal Sharma, resident
of Mill Colony of Beawar, committed suicide by

medium pacers Aniket Choudhary and Tanveer Haq
put their side on road to victory against Andhra in
the Group E Ranji

Saturday. The duo
prised out the top
order cheaply after
Ashok Meneria and Mahipal Lomror’s half-centuries
set a daunting target (368) for Andhra. Chasing
a stiff target on a dicey wicket, Andhra ended the
penultimate day at 100 for four after recovering from
a precarious 41 for four.

POLITICAL MOVE: A
DINNER MEETING
SETS OFF RUMOURS
hat’s cooking be-
tween political strat-
egist Prashant
Kishor and Bihar
Chief Minister Nit-
ish Kumar who recently met
over dinner? Kishor dismissed
rumours about any political
move in association with Nitish
Kumar. But coming as it does on
the back of PK’s reported rift
with Mamata Banerjee’s Trina-
mool Congress, it is hard to be-
lieve that it was just a “courte-
sy” dinner meet between the
strategist and his former JD-U
boss after he was shown the
door in 2020. Kishor was num-
ber two in the JD-U. Despite his
denial, it is possible that the
meeting was to further Kishor’s
plan to forge a national alterna-
tive against the BJP.
Significantly
, the TMC has re-
futed speculations of a rift with
Kishor’s I-PAC over a tweet. “We
work as one team and will con-
tinue to collaborate in the fu-
ture,” said a tweet by the TMC.
The I-PAC retweeted the tweet by
TMC. Kishor is definitely not re-
treating from his national objec-
tive. Will Nitish be a part of it?
W
umar Vishwas is a
great poet of our
times and also has
the ability to mes-
merise audiences
with his renditions. Kumar’s
foray in politics proved to be
a failure as he and Kejriwal
couldn’t get along on various
issues. Politically
, Kejriwal is
street smart and understood
the intricacies of politics ear-
ly in his career. He and the
BJP used Anna Hazare to
their advantage and ascended
to power. That is why he is
where he is, and Vishwas is
enjoying his fame as a poet-
story-teller. But for him to
havewaitedforsomanyyears
to talk about Kejriwal being a
threat to the nation’s security
makesonesuspecthismotive.
According to Vishwas, Kejri-
wal shared his separatist
ideaswaybackin2017. Bynot
informing the government
about this earlier, Vishwas
can also be made accountable
for concealment of crime
against the nation. Earlier
Navjot Singh Sidhu was per-
ceived to be a security threat.
Does Vishwas have suffi-
cient proof of the allegation
which he has levelled a cou-
ple of days prior to voting on
February 20? Or has he done
this to help whichever party
he is batting for? The imme-
diate reaction has come from
the BJP, Congress and Akali
Dal, the three parties who
are predicted to lose elec-
tions. Akali Dal is some-
where behind in the race.
Congress fears being voted
out of power as predictions
show the Aam Aadmi Party
leading the race. Together
they have found it agreeable
to be bedfellows against the
common enemy---AAP---to
thwart it from coming to
power. The NIA must swing
into action now.
KUMAR VISHWAS AND

. Del-

On Thursday February 15,
First India carried the follow-
ing news item. The reporter’s
name Aishwary Pradhan. I
quote, “Jaipur: Former Chief
Minister Vasundhara Raje
has written a letter to CM
Ashok Gehlot demanding
that Rajasthan language be
declaredtheofficiallanguage.
“Raje mentioned that the
mother tongue of Rajasthan
is one of the richest languag-
es of the world” Then follows
direct quote from Vasund-
haraji. “It signifies our cul-
ture and feelings. Every per-
son wants Rajasthani to be
made the official language.”
Vasundhara Raje Ji was an
admired Chief Minister of
Rajsthan for ten years. What
steps did she take to make Ra-
jasthani the official lan-
guage? She is among the most
experienced legislatures in
the country. She has been a
member of the Lok Sabha.
If she has been quoted cor-
rectly then, certain funda-
mental questions need be ad-
dressed. First “Every person”
does not ask for making Ra-
jasthani as the official lan-
guage. The people of Bharat-
pur and Dholpur speak Braj
Bhasha and Hindi. Alwar has
its own dialect. The Bhils also
have their own dialect.
How many books are pub-
lished in Rajasthani? how
many newspapers, text
books in schools on physics
or chemistry are written in
this language? Is noting of
government files done in
Hindi or Rajasthani?
Does Rajasthani have its
own alphabet? How many dic-
tionaries are written in Ra-
jasthani. Is Rajasthani richer
than Hindi or Bengali?
I shall give the former
Chief Minister the benefit of
doubt. She was misquoted.

USE POWER TO QUASH CRIMINAL
PROCEEDINGS SPARINGLY: SC
SC SCRAPS GENDER CAP ON
MAHA BAR PERFORMERS
New Delhi: The power to quash criminal
proceedings should be exercised very
sparingly and with circumspection and that
too in the rarest of rare cases, the SC has
said. A bench of Justices BR Gavai and S
Ravindra Bhat made the observation while
quashing a case of forgery and cheating
against three individuals in a property
dispute. “This court has cautioned that,
power to quash criminal proceedings
should be exercised very sparingly and
with circumspection and that too in the
rarest of rare cases, it has specified certain
category of cases wherein such power can
be exercised,” the bench said.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has
scrapped the condition imposed by Maha-
rashtra authorities that limited the number
of female and male performers in orches-
tra bars to four each, saying rules based
on gender stereotypes have no place in
the society. “While the overall limit of
performers in any given performance
cannot exceed eight, the composition (i.e.,
all-female, majority female or male, or vice
versa) can be of any combination,” it said
in an order. The HC had rejected a plea
against the licence condition to keep only
4 women and 4 male singers or artistes
on the stage of the orchestra bars.

Jodhpur: The National
Investigation Agency
(NIA) on Saturday con-
ducted searches at mul-
tiple locations in the
country, including Ra-
jasthan in connection
with a terrorism con-
spiracy case.
The NIA raided the
residence of a journal-
ist Barkat Ali and inter-
rogated him for five
hours in Jodhpur.
The raid was con-
ducted at Ali’s house in
Ratanada area in the
morning. The NIA team
interrogated him for
about five hours and left
the house. After a while,
Barkat Ali was called to
the IB office where he
was jointly interrogat-
ed by IB and NIA.
Ali was then taken to
his house. It is believed
that the NIA may call
Barkat Ali to Delhi for
fresh interrogation in
the next few days.
Later, Barkat Ali
talked to reporters and
claimed that he works
with the security agen-
cies along with doing
journalism. “I have
been involved in many
operations,” he
claimed. Journalist
Barkat Ali said that the
NIA team took some in-
formation from him.
CONSPIRACY CASE
The case relates to planning and conspiracy for
undertaking violent terrorist acts in Jammu
and Kashmir and other major cities, including New
Delhi, by cadres of the proscribed terrorist organi-
sations Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed
(JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and Al Badr and
their affiliates such as The Resistance Front (TRF)
and People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF), the
spokesperson said. Twenty-eight accused have
been arrested in the case so far, said an official.

after several decades in
Jaipur, Congress lead-

out the shortcomings
during the Congress’s

Advisor to CM and
Congress MLA from
Nawalgarh, Rajkumar
Sharma said that the
ministers and the offic-
ers look at the workers
with suspicion. “Works
of workers should be
done both at block level
to the Capital. When we
hold a rally or an event,
these workers work and
they also have to oblige

the work of the work-
ers, only then people
will stand by them in
the field. This is the era
of economic growth, so
stop looking at the

Sharma said.
Pointing towards the
political crisis, Sharma
said, “You have an ex-
ample, how many temp-

not leave you and the

. With so
many temptations, even

POSTAL REG NO. JPC/004/2022-24
WILL MAYAWATI
BECOME THE
PRESIDENT
OF INDIA?
Atal Bihari govern-
ment at the Centre
had fallen due to one
vote of BSP supremo
Mayawati. But imitless
doors of possibilities
have opened for ‘Behen-
ji’ in the modern-day
BJP
. If sources are to be
believed, Mayawati may
be the country’s first
woman Dalit President.
It is said that BJP top
leadership is seriously
considering her name
for the same. Now, the
question arises that
‘what will BJP get in re-
turn?’ Sources claim
that she may merge Ba-
hujan Samaj Party with
BJP
. The name of UP
Governor Anandiben
Patel is doing rounds for
asVicePres-
ident of
I n d i a .
That is,
in the
light of
2024
elections, by putting
women in the top two
postsof thecountry
,BJP
wants to prove how big a
‘women-friendly’ party
it is. While making fun
of Priyanka Gandhi’s
famous slogan ‘ladki
hun, lad sakti hun’, UP
DeputyCMKeshavPras-
ad Maurya had mocked
Priyanka by calling an
‘aunty
, not a girl’. It is
said that the Saffron
Party’s High Command
took Maurya’s class and
scolded him saying,
“You have Keshav in
your name, please don’t
make fun of women like
this.” Women and young
voters played a vital role
in re-electing Narendra
Modi as PM as BJP very
well understands the
gravity of this aspect.
WHY IS KEJRIWAL
BEING TARGETED
BY A POET?
When the election
campaign was on
in full swing in Punjab,
poet Kumar Vishwas in
an interview to news
agencyANI,brought
skeletons out of
Kejriwal’s closet.
This time in Pun-
jab Assembly
polls, the people of Pun-
jab are looking forward
to adopt AAP’s ‘Delhi
model’. So right from
Channi, Modi, Akali Dal
to Rahul and Priyanka
are targeting Kejriwal
and he had to adopt an
defensive attitude. Actu-
ally
, AAP’s massive im-
pact can be seen in Mal-
wa and Doaba regions
this time. Malwa has al-
ways been a centre of
Punjab’s politics. If
Parkash Singh Badal,
Captain Amarinder Sin-
gh and current CM
Channi’s names are
taken out of this list,
then since 1966 till now
17 Punjab CMs were
from Malwa. This time
AAP’s ‘broom’ is creat-
ing positive effects in
Malwa. Talk-
ing about
Doaba, it
is an area
of influ-
ence of
NRIs, who have been
supporting Kejriwal for
a long time. There are 23
seats here. It is believed
that once the Jat- Sikh
core vote bank in Malwa
region was part of Aka-
li-BJP but has shifted to
AAP and Congress after
the farmers’ movement.
The constituency of
AAP’s CM face Bhag-
want Mann, who is MP
from Sangrur, also
comes in Malwa. Most
of the farmers who
were martyred in farm-
ers’ movement were
also from Malwa re-
gion. So, this seems to
be a well-thought-out
tactic of Vishwas.
WHY IS RAHUL
ANGRY WITH
LOVED ONES?
AtatimewhenRahul
and Priyanka were
busy in elections in five
states,withtheblessings
of Sonia Gandhi, Mad-
husudan Mistry, who
moved forward in Con-
gress politics with bless-
ings of Late Ahmed Pa-
tel, stepped forward to
boost the Congress
membership campaign
byappointingState-wise
PRO i.e. State Returning
Officer APRO at a
massive scale. Sources
reveal that after March
10, both Rahul and Pri-
yankacanjointlyreview
and repair Mistry’s list.
The names of many
PRO-APROs can be re-
moved from the list and
many new names can be
added. Since Congress
Presidentistobeelected
in August-September,
Rahul doesn’t want any
challenge for himself
from within the party
.
WILL CONGRESS
‘EKLA CHALEGI’ IN
BIHAR TOO?
Both Rahul and Pri-
yanka want that
like in UP
, now the Con-
gress should be put on
its own feet in Bihar. For
this,theGandhisiblings
don’t want Lalu or Nit-
ish’ssupport.Underthis
strategy, the Congress
has released its first list
of 8 candidates for the
election of 24 seats for
the Bihar Legislative
Council. At the same
time, big Congress lead-
ers of Bihar were busy
visiting Lalu-Nitish to
get tickets for their rel-
atives. Without talking
to Lalu, Rahul sent his
confidant K. Raju to Bi-
har as an observer and
only after Raju’s re-
port, the Congress has
also released its first
list of candidates.
SONIA GANDHI
WON’T CONTEST
ELECTIONS
In view of
her dete-
r i o r at i n g
health, So-
nia Gan-
dhi is refus-
ing to con-
test the
next LS polls. Sources
related to 10 Janpath re-
veal that there has been
almost a consensus in
Gandhi family that this
time in general elec-
tions in 2024, Priyanka
Gandhi may contest
from Rae Bareli in place
of Sonia. There is also a
possibility that in 2024,
Priyanka contests
against Smriti Irani
from Rahul’s Amethi
seat and Rahul may
shift to Rae Bareli, his
mother’s seat. At the
same time, BJP is try-
ing to convert Rae
Bareli’s condition like
that of Amethi, when
in 2017 UP assembly
polls, Congress could
win only 2 out of 5
seats in Amethi and
later both the Congress
MLAs joined the BJP.
WHY IS MADAN
ENGAGED IN
CRUSHING
DOWN BJP?
All is not well in Ut-
tarakhand BJP
these days as the mu-
tual tussle between
BJP leaders
couldn’t end even
during polls. The
BJP High Com-
mand was forced
to summon
Pushkar Singh
Dhami and
Madan
Kaushik
to Del-
hi. Kaushik’s tweet is
also being attributed
behind this, in which
he had openly said that
‘BJP is losing in Utta-
rakhand’. Anyway, the
officials of Uttara-
khand have been trou-
bled for last five years
due to Kaushik’s obsti-
nate attitude. He didn’t
stop even during the
elections. It is said that
Kaushik spent money
like a spendthrift in
polls. He got the poll
campaign material
printed in such a huge
quantity that he be-
came obviously visible
to the ECI.
...AND FINALLY
BSP has made Mee-
sam Ammar Rizvi
its candidate from
Mahmudabad. Mees-
am’s father was a vet-
eran Congress leader,
who had also been UP
CM’s caretaker. In 2019,
he had joined the BJP.
Now Meesam’s dilem-
ma is that his father be-
ing in BJP, he isn’t able
to attack BJP directly
in his campaign.

Hemaram Chaudhary Rameshwar Dudi during Congress’s state-level Convention held at Birla Auditorium on Saturday.
A huge number of Congress leaders and workers were present at
the state-level Convention held at Birla Auditorium.
Rajkumar Sharma
other leaders said that
bureaucrats dominate
and party worker is not
being heard. “I had
sent District Presi-
dent along with the
worker to Collector.
The Collector said that
President should get
his work done. When
I visit ministers, they
say that you yourself
are the advisor to CM,
such is the condition,”
Sharma rued.
Social Justice
Empowerment Minister
Govindram Megh-

shouldn’t be given
tickets at the time of
elections. These people
work for their entire life
and then get tickets,
while the worker works
for the party. If the
workers work hard
tickets are given to
officers, then the work-
ers on the grass roots
get frustrated, he said.
Food Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khacha-
riyawas said that Maharana Pratap’s fight with Akbar
was not a religious fight, but a fight for self-respect.
BJP-RSS people give religious colour to this fight for
self-respect, he said. Two days ago, there was a con-
troversy over PCC President GS Dotasra terming the
fight between the two as a political and power struggle.

leaders to avoid contro-

said that the leaders
should keep their point,

He also admitted that

People of the country have been disillusioned
with Union govt led by PM Narendra Modi.
The Centre has done little except selling na-
tion’s assets built over 70 years by vision of Congress
leaders. It is a matter of concern where the country is
headed financially today... They have been in power
for 7 years, but today whether it is petrol, diesel, cook-
ing gas, their prices have sky rocketed but they are not
ashamed of it. —Dr Raghu Sharma, Cong’s Gujarat in-charge

Meanwhile, the pro- test against the incident continued outside the Didwana court. During this, many leaders and other people of Megh- wal community, Dalit organizations, and BJP participated in the dharna. RAJASTHAN JAIPUR | SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2022 02 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epaper/ I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur: Having take over the charge of Chief secretary of Ra- jasthan, Usha Sharma, who had been review- ing departments one after the other at Secre- tariat since assuming charge, is all set to step out of her office, and move into the ‘field’ for the first time as CS. Sharma will chair a meeting of two depart- ments of the JDA - UDH and LSG. Notably, the meeting was earlier scheduled for Sunday, February 20, however, the schedule was changed. According to knowl- edgeable sources, this is perhaps the first in- stance when a CS is heading to JDA for meeting. In fact, there are two interesting co- incidence between the upcoming meet and Usha Sharma. She served as JDA Commis- sioner in the year 2003 and after nearly two decades, she will be reaching the same of- fice and relive old mem- ories. Secondly, she will be reviewing the UDH department of which she held the reins in the year 2004-05. So she will learn about the present state of affairs and the condition of the department, fifteen years later. JDA has undergone a complete metamorpho- sis in the past years and due to dozens of pro- jects and new works, Jaipur has been com- pletely transformed. Developments works are going on even today and JDA reins are cur- rently in the hands of its young and energetic Commissioner Gaurav Goyal. CS Usha Sharma has to still direct offi- cials to complete works in a time bound manner since delay in projects in JDA’s biggest nega- tive point. The UDH is working in a commendable man- ner under the direction and monitoring of cur- rent UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal who has literally trans- formed Kota city . More- over, the works under- taken by Housing Board under its Commission- er Pawan Arora’s com- mand, it could be said that neither have such works been done in the past and perhaps never will such works be done in future. Chief Minis- ter Ashok Gehlot has even publicly patted RHB Commissioner Pawan Arora on several occasions. Although it has been ten months since 1995 batch IAS Kunji Lal Meena was appointed as Principal Secretary of UDH, however, slow- ly and steadily he is making his grip strong- er in the department. Usha Sharma can thus be happy that her old department is in a good condition. In the second session, the meeting regarding LSG will be conducted and this department is in tatters. For a long time, Bhawani detha was the secretary of the department and Deep- ak nandi was the Direc- tor, however, due to their poor performance, CM Gehlot had publicly scolded them. In fact, in the ‘Prashasan Shehro ke Sang’ campaign, the LSG failed to give any result. Due to this, in Janu- ary this year, the state government trans- ferred both Bhawani Detha and Deepak Nan- di from LSG and two young and capable offic- ers have been appointed here as Jogaram has been appointed Secre- tary while Hridesh Sharma has been ap- pointed Director. The Chief secretary can give directions to this ‘young team’ as to what they can do to improve the image of LSG. 20 Saal Baad...Usha to set foot in the ‘hallowed corridors’ of JDA where she once held sway! DR KIRODI, RATHORE DEMAND ARREST OF ‘POLITICALLY INFLUENTIAL’ ACCUSED Leaders accused Nagaur police of protecting a local Congress leader for supporting the accused Dr KL Meena and supporters on a dharna in Jaipur. (inset) People stage protest in Nagaur. RAPE ON PRETEXT OF MARRIAGE Acase of raping a girl on the pretext of marriage has come to light in Ajmer. The victim has also alleged the accused of forcing for an abortion, keeping her in a rented house and blackmailing her with photos and videos. The victim, has given a complaint in the SP office and said that on the pretext of marriage, he also transferred money from her account and sold a gold chain. The death of the gang-rape vic- tim of Nagaur and the murder of a girl student in Kota are the examples of the Congress govern- ment’s misgovernance and deteriorat- ing law and order. —Dr Satish Poonia, BJP State President Public reps should take welfare schemes to beneficiaries: Dr Joshi Nimbahera shutdown: Anjana targets Kriplani ‘CORRUPT’ JDA ACCOUNTANT DENIED BAIL Jaipur: The Special Anti-Corruption Court- III on Saturday rejected the bail application of Ram Tofan Mundotia, who was accountant at Zone-4 of JDA here and was arrested by the ACB for taking bribe to the tune of lakhs of rupees for issuing pattas. Special judge Rajendra Kumar Saini described it as serious crime and dismissed the plea of 54 years old Mundotia, who is in jail under judicial custody since 8th Feb on the basis of a complaint registered on 28th January. HEALTH DEPT RELIEVES DOCS WITHOUT POSTS Jaipur: Doctors working without posts in the medical depart- ment were relieved. They were instructed to come to the CMHO office of the district. Medical Secy Ashutosh AT Pednekar issued an order for equaliza- tion. Instructions were given to all controlling officers to relieve additional doctors with immediate effect. It includes PHC, CHC, satellite hospital and sub-district hospital across the state. Over- all, 450 doctors will be affected by this order. Beawar: Ajmer District Youth Congress gener- al secy and former councilor Rahul Chaturvedi committed suicide by hanging himself in a private flat on Saturday morning. On infor- mation, the city police reached the spot and sent the body to Govt Amritkaur Hospital for post-mortem. A large number of people reached the hospital after receiving the news of Rahul’s suicide. According to the info, 30-year-old Rahul Chaturvedi son Murarilal Sharma, resident of Mill Colony of Beawar, committed suicide by hanging himself in his private flat. Thiruvananthpuram: Inspired spells from Rajasthan medium pacers Aniket Choudhary and Tanveer Haq put their side on road to victory against Andhra in the Group E Ranji Trophy match at the St. Xavier’s College ground here on Saturday. The duo prised out the top order cheaply after Ashok Meneria and Mahipal Lomror’s half-centuries set a daunting target (368) for Andhra. Chasing a stiff target on a dicey wicket, Andhra ended the penultimate day at 100 for four after recovering from a precarious 41 for four. FORMER CONGRESS COUNCILLOR IN AJMER DIES BY HANGING SELF ANIKET, HAQ PUT RAJASTHAN ON ROAD TO VICTORY IN RANJI TROPHY NEWS DIGEST REET row: SOG arrests journo, 40 held so far Double murder spreads panic Rajendra Rathore and Dr Kirodi Lal Meena holding placards with message of postponing RAS Mains on Saturday. BJP leaders back demand to defer RAS Mains exam Bharat Dixit Jaipur: BJP MP Dr Ki- rodi Lal Meena and Deputy Leader of Oppo- sition in the State As- sembly Rajendra Singh Rathore have lent their support to the agitating RAS aspirants and backed their demand for postponement of the entrance exam. The two leaders went to the venue in New City where the aspir- ants have been staging a sit-in for the last two days on Saturday and talked to the protes- tors. The BJP veterans de- scribed their demand as justified because the candidates are left with much less time for preparation as the ma- jor changes have oc- cured in the syllabus. Meanwhile, after the condition of three of the candidates, who are on hunger strike, worsened, they have been shifted to the SMS Hospital. LESS TIME Dr CP Joshi during the foundation stone laying ceremony in Delwara. GC Kataria, Kasni Gameti and others were also present. Jaipur: The Police on Saturday arrested the director of a city school under POCSO Act for doing an obscene act with a girl student studying in Class X. The family of the girl approached Vaishali Nagar police accusing Shravan, the director of New IPS School situated in Meenawala, Shekhawat colony, of molesting their daughter. Accord- ing to the complaint, Shravan showed the girl some objectionable pictures of her. He then molested the girl threatening to make the pictures viral and defame her. When the family members countered him about the incident, he started threatening them with dire consequences. SCHOOL DIRECTOR HELD FOR OBSCENE ACT WITH STUDENT Naveen Joshi Bhilwara: A woman, who was accused of domestic violence by her husband, has filed a case accusing a Circle Inspector of forcing her for physi- cal relations. The woman alleged that the CI, who was inves- tigating case against her in December 2011, was harassing her by video call. After registering a case at Subhash Na- gar police station of Bhilwara city, investi- gation has been start- ed. Subhash Nagar SHO Pushpa Kasotia said that, the police have filed a case un- der Sexual Harass- ment and IT Act and the Women’s Crime Cell is investigating it. The woman al- leged that the cop threatened her. On Saturday night, the accused CI was sus- pended. TOP TWEETS WHAT IS PK’S NEXT POLITICAL MOVE: A DINNER MEETING SETS OFF RUMOURS hat’s cooking be- tween political strat- egist Prashant Kishor and Bihar Chief Minister Nit- ish Kumar who recently met over dinner? Kishor dismissed rumours about any political move in association with Nitish Kumar. But coming as it does on the back of PK’s reported rift with Mamata Banerjee’s Trina- mool Congress, it is hard to be- lieve that it was just a “courte- sy” dinner meet between the strategist and his former JD-U boss after he was shown the door in 2020. Kishor was num- ber two in the JD-U. Despite his denial, it is possible that the meeting was to further Kishor’s plan to forge a national alterna- tive against the BJP. Significantly , the TMC has re- futed speculations of a rift with Kishor’s I-PAC over a tweet. “We work as one team and will con- tinue to collaborate in the fu- ture,” said a tweet by the TMC. The I-PAC retweeted the tweet by TMC. Kishor is definitely not re- treating from his national objec- tive. Will Nitish be a part of it? W umar Vishwas is a great poet of our times and also has the ability to mes- merise audiences with his renditions. Kumar’s foray in politics proved to be a failure as he and Kejriwal couldn’t get along on various issues. Politically , Kejriwal is street smart and understood the intricacies of politics ear- ly in his career. He and the BJP used Anna Hazare to their advantage and ascended to power. That is why he is where he is, and Vishwas is enjoying his fame as a poet- story-teller. But for him to havewaitedforsomanyyears to talk about Kejriwal being a threat to the nation’s security makesonesuspecthismotive. According to Vishwas, Kejri- wal shared his separatist ideaswaybackin2017. Bynot informing the government about this earlier, Vishwas can also be made accountable for concealment of crime against the nation. Earlier Navjot Singh Sidhu was per- ceived to be a security threat. Does Vishwas have suffi- cient proof of the allegation which he has levelled a cou- ple of days prior to voting on February 20? Or has he done this to help whichever party he is batting for? The imme- diate reaction has come from the BJP, Congress and Akali Dal, the three parties who are predicted to lose elec- tions. Akali Dal is some- where behind in the race. Congress fears being voted out of power as predictions show the Aam Aadmi Party leading the race. Together they have found it agreeable to be bedfellows against the common enemy---AAP---to thwart it from coming to power. The NIA must swing into action now. KUMAR VISHWAS AND HIS BIG ALLEGATION According to Vishwas, Kejriwal shared his separatist ideas way back in 2017. Is noting of government files done in Hindi or Rajasthani? Does Rajasthani have its own alphabet? How many dic- tionaries are written in Ra- jasthani. Is Rajasthani richer than Hindi or Bengali? We have to bring the Congress government again in the elections.” Maken said that the Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot has done many public welfare works in the last 3 years and it is the re- sponsibility of all the party leaders and workers to take them to the general public. • 9. Yogesh Sharma/ Naresh Sharma Jaipur: In the open ses- sion of Congress held after several decades in Jaipur, Congress lead- ers on Saturday, target- ed bureaucracy. Minis- ters, MLAs advisors of CM openly pointed out the shortcomings during the Congress’s state-level convention. Advisor to CM and Congress MLA from Nawalgarh, Rajkumar Sharma said that the ministers and the offic- ers look at the workers with suspicion. “Works of workers should be done both at block level to the Capital. When we hold a rally or an event, these workers work and they also have to oblige someone below. If we do the work of the work- ers, only then people will stand by them in the field. This is the era of economic growth, so stop looking at the workerwithsuspicion,” Sharma said. Pointing towards the political crisis, Sharma said, “You have an ex- ample, how many temp- tations were given to our MLAs, but they did not leave you and the Congress party . With so many temptations, even married couples might agree to leave each oth- er. We should have kept this session for two days. After holding a lot of sessions with the MLAs, now the workers' conferences should be held,” Sharma said while referring to the crisis during the rebel- lion of the Pilot camp. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, State President Govind Singh Dotasra, Gujarat in- charge Raghu Sharma, Bhanwar Jitendra Sin- gh, CWC member Raghuveer Meena, all ministers, AICC and PCC members were pre- sent in the convention. JPC/004/2022-24 WILL MAYAWATI BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA? Atal Bihari govern- ment at the Centre had fallen due to one vote of BSP supremo Mayawati. But imitless doors of possibilities have opened for ‘Behen- ji’ in the modern-day BJP . If sources are to be believed, Mayawati may be the country’s first woman Dalit President. It is said that BJP top leadership is seriously considering her name for the same. Now, the question arises that ‘what will BJP get in re- turn?’ Sources claim that she may merge Ba- hujan Samaj Party with BJP . The name of UP Governor Anandiben Patel is doing rounds for asVicePres- ident of I n d i a . That is, in the light of 2024 elections, by putting women in the top two postsof thecountry ,BJP wants to prove how big a ‘women-friendly’ party it is. While making fun of Priyanka Gandhi’s famous slogan ‘ladki hun, lad sakti hun’, UP DeputyCMKeshavPras- ad Maurya had mocked Priyanka by calling an ‘aunty , not a girl’. It is said that the Saffron Party’s High Command took Maurya’s class and scolded him saying, “You have Keshav in your name, please don’t make fun of women like this.” Women and young voters played a vital role in re-electing Narendra Modi as PM as BJP very well understands the gravity of this aspect. WHY IS KEJRIWAL BEING TARGETED BY A POET? When the election campaign was on in full swing in Punjab, poet Kumar Vishwas in an interview to news agencyANI,brought skeletons out of Kejriwal’s closet. This time in Pun- jab Assembly polls, the people of Pun- jab are looking forward to adopt AAP’s ‘Delhi model’. So right from Channi, Modi, Akali Dal to Rahul and Priyanka are targeting Kejriwal and he had to adopt an defensive attitude. Actu- ally , AAP’s massive im- pact can be seen in Mal- wa and Doaba regions this time. Malwa has al- ways been a centre of Punjab’s politics. If Parkash Singh Badal, Captain Amarinder Sin- gh and current CM Channi’s names are taken out of this list, then since 1966 till now 17 Punjab CMs were from Malwa. This time AAP’s ‘broom’ is creat- ing positive effects in Malwa. Talk- ing about Doaba, it is an area of influ- ence of NRIs, who have been supporting Kejriwal for a long time. There are 23 seats here. It is believed that once the Jat- Sikh core vote bank in Malwa region was part of Aka- li-BJP but has shifted to AAP and Congress after the farmers’ movement. The constituency of AAP’s CM face Bhag- want Mann, who is MP from Sangrur, also comes in Malwa. Most of the farmers who were martyred in farm- ers’ movement were also from Malwa re- gion. So, this seems to be a well-thought-out tactic of Vishwas. WHY IS RAHUL ANGRY WITH LOVED ONES? AtatimewhenRahul and Priyanka were busy in elections in five states, withtheblessings of Sonia Gandhi, Mad- husudan Mistry, who moved forward in Con- gress politics with bless- ings of Late Ahmed Pa- tel, stepped forward to boost the Congress membership campaign byappointingState-wise PRO i.e. State Returning Officer APRO at a massive scale. Sources reveal that after March 10, both Rahul and Pri- yankacanjointlyreview and repair Mistry’s list. The names of many PRO-APROs can be re- moved from the list and many new names can be added. Since Congress Presidentistobeelected in August-September, Rahul doesn’t want any challenge for himself from within the party . WILL CONGRESS ‘EKLA CHALEGI’ IN BIHAR TOO? Both Rahul and Pri- yanka want that like in UP , now the Con- gress should be put on its own feet in Bihar. For this, theGandhisiblings don’t want Lalu or Nit- ish’ssupport.Underthis strategy, the Congress has released its first list of 8 candidates for the election of 24 seats for the Bihar Legislative Council. At the same time, big Congress lead- ers of Bihar were busy visiting Lalu-Nitish to get tickets for their rel- atives. Without talking to Lalu, Rahul sent his confidant K. Raju to Bi- har as an observer and only after Raju’s re- port, the Congress has also released its first list of candidates. SONIA GANDHI WON’T CONTEST ELECTIONS In view of her dete- r i o r at i n g health, So- nia Gan- dhi is refus- ing to con- test the next LS polls. Sources related to 10 Janpath re- veal that there has been almost a consensus in Gandhi family that this time in general elec- tions in 2024, Priyanka Gandhi may contest from Rae Bareli in place of Sonia. There is also a possibility that in 2024, Priyanka contests against Smriti Irani from Rahul’s Amethi seat and Rahul may shift to Rae Bareli, his mother’s seat. At the same time, BJP is try- ing to convert Rae Bareli’s condition like that of Amethi, when in 2017 UP assembly polls, Congress could win only 2 out of 5 seats in Amethi and later both the Congress MLAs joined the BJP. WHY IS MADAN ENGAGED IN CRUSHING DOWN BJP? All is not well in Ut- tarakhand BJP these days as the mu- tual tussle between BJP leaders couldn’t end even during polls. The BJP High Com- mand was forced to summon Pushkar Singh Dhami and Madan Kaushik to Del- hi. Kaushik’s tweet is also being attributed behind this, in which he had openly said that ‘BJP is losing in Utta- rakhand’. Anyway, the officials of Uttara- khand have been trou- bled for last five years due to Kaushik’s obsti- nate attitude. He didn’t stop even during the elections. It is said that Kaushik spent money like a spendthrift in polls. He got the poll campaign material printed in such a huge quantity that he be- came obviously visible to the ECI. ...AND FINALLY BSP has made Mee- sam Ammar Rizvi its candidate from Mahmudabad. Mees- am’s father was a vet- eran Congress leader, who had also been UP CM’s caretaker. In 2019, he had joined the BJP. Now Meesam’s dilem- ma is that his father be- ing in BJP, he isn’t able to attack BJP directly in his campaign. FIRST INDIA SUNDAY SPECIAL BY TRIDIB RAMAN The author is a journalist and political commentator and views expressed are his personal RAHUL GANDHI MAYAWATI ARVIND KEJRIWAL SONIA GANDHI MADAN KAUSHIK CONGRESS STATE-LEVEL CONVENTION MLAsfiresalvosatBureaucracy! “Workers shouldn’t be looked at with suspicion,” said Rajkumar Sharma CM Ashok Gehlot, GS Dotasra, Dr BD Kalla, Mohan Prakash, Dr Chandrabhan, Raghuveer Meena, Jitendra Singh, Dr Raghu Sharma, Hemaram Chaudhary Rameshwar Dudi during Congress’s state-level Convention held at Birla Auditorium on Saturday. A huge number of Congress leaders and workers were present at the state-level Convention held at Birla Auditorium. Rajkumar Sharma other leaders said that bureaucrats dominate and party worker is not being heard. “I had sent District Presi- dent along with the worker to Collector. The Collector said that President should get his work done. When I visit ministers, they say that you yourself are the advisor to CM, such is the condition,” Sharma rued. Social Justice Empowerment Minister Govindram Megh- wal said that officers shouldn’t be given tickets at the time of elections. These people work for their entire life and then get tickets, while the worker works for the party. If the workers work hard tickets are given to officers, then the work- ers on the grass roots get frustrated, he said. Food Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Singh Khacha- riyawas said that Maharana Pratap’s fight with Akbar was not a religious fight, but a fight for self-respect. BJP-RSS people give religious colour to this fight for self-respect, he said. Two days ago, there was a con- troversy over PCC President GS Dotasra terming the fight between the two as a political and power struggle. BUREAUCRACY DOMINATES, WORKER ISN’T HEARD: LEADERS DO NOT GIVE TICKETS TO OFFICERS: MIN MEGHWAL MAHARANA’S FIGHT WAS FOR SELF-RESPECT, NOT RELIGION, SAYS KHACHARIYAWAS Dotasra: Leaders should avoid controversial remarks First India Bureau Jaipur: Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra while speaking at open convention on Saturday, advised the leaders to avoid contro- versial statements. He said that the leaders should keep their point, but shouldn’t do any such thing which gives the BJP an opportunity to speak. “BJP is adept at turning a non-issue into an issue, keep this in mind,” he added. He also admitted that a Congress worker isn’t able to answer to BJP. “Our mouth media worker is also weak. It is necessary to strength- en and aware the work- ers,” he said. “Discus- sion was held on how we can give good gov- ernance, how we can highlight Centre’s fail- ures and how we come to power again in 2023 and oust Modi govern- ment in 2024,” he said. —PHOTOS BY SANTOSH SHARMA People of the country have been disillusioned with Union govt led by PM Narendra Modi. The Centre has done little except selling na- tion’s assets built over 70 years by vision of Congress leaders. It is a matter of concern where the country is headed financially today... They have been in power for 7 years, but today whether it is petrol, diesel, cook- ing gas, their prices have sky rocketed but they are not ashamed of it. —Dr Raghu Sharma, Cong’s Gujarat in-charge GS Dotasra addresses leaders during the Convention. Former CEC Sunil Arora called up Akhil Arora to convey his condolences. Akhil now has two challeng- es to face as on one side, he has lost his mother, which is a try- ing time for a son, and on the other side, he has to look out for his ‘extended family’ - Ra- jasthan - also, since he was busy preparing for the State Budget these days to be tabled on February 23.
