2. Initial Ideas
ā¢ Use alternative brands that readers will likely know (Hell Bunny, Spin Doctor etc.)
ā¢ I intend for my model to wear a shirt that has Victorian style elements to it, such as a high
neck and ruffles (representing the past and history focused section of the magazine), but it
would be in a modern print fabric (representing the contemporary future of the region).
The Victorian clothing style is also having a revival in fashion, so this would represent that
the magazine considers fashion and the fashion industry; and readers who may not
consider themselves to be alternative would also like it.
ā¢ I also feature oversized cameo earrings on my model, as I think that this will look fun and
quirky (conveying the themes of my magazine) but it will still tie into the
Victorian/Steampunk style I want to put across.
ā¢ I am also considering the use of 3D cinema glasses, as this will relate to the aspect of film
and entertainment in my magazine, as it is a large part of culture (Hertfordshire region has
Warner Bros studios). The glasses will also represent modern technology, which will
contrast with the Victorian style clothing (showing the past and future). Furthermore,
visually the glasses will look almost out of place with the outfit, which will be eye-catching
to readers, and will show that the magazine thinks outside of the box, and defies
conventions.
ā¢ In terms of props, I could have my model holding a book (relating to literature element of
magazine), a mirror (relating to beauty aspect of magazine), keys (relating to steampunk ,
and could link to slogan āLook to the past, to unlock your futureā?)
