5 Music Video Locations Under 40 Characters
1. Locations
These are some of the locations that I will plan
to use when filming my music video. I have
chosen 5 appropriate locations that will suit my
music video.
Nile A-S
2. Location 1 – Trinity Academy Halifax (Int)
Chosen location:
The chosen location is the Trinity Academy hallways I will use this location
for filming scenes that are at the beginning and the end of the music
video. These shots will be build up and closing sequences and don’t play a
large part in the music video. I may also film various shots of crowds and
so on to fit the theme of the song. Most of the shots will involve students
in uniforms so therefore they will be extras in the music video.
What will happen:
I will film various shots however the main shots will be of large crowds
and no singing will be done in this location this will be used for filming
cool scenes of large amounts of people. The large amount of people in
school uniforms all looking the same will give the viewers the feeling of a
lot of people and will help to emphasise this. As well as the simple
opening and closing shots of the hallways, the crowds will be used to
match some lyrics of the songs this will help reinforce the lyrics of the
song. Some of these lyrics are “Ten thousand people maybe more as this
links to the lyrics.
Time recorded:
The shots will be filmed during the day when large amounts of people are
around. The shots of hallways can be filmed at any time however. I will
need crowds of people to emphasise some of the lyrics of the music
video, this will also help reinforce a small part of the narrative that Is
being created. The lyrics are “ten thousand people maybe more”
Advantages:
Very open and easy to film with a camera can get some good shots using
the camera. The shot of a door to the studio can be easy to film as well.
Problems that may arise:
May be hard to film at certain times with large amounts of people.
Sometimes the rooms may be in use so I will have to find an empty room.
3. Location 2 – Beechwood park
Chosen location:
Beechwood park will be used for various cinematic shots. I am basing
my music video from the song sound of silence so cinematic shots of
people walking or of quiet places will work well. These locations are
very good and simple and could work well.
What will happen:
I will film various shots of both the location and the actor walking in
this location to fit with the theme of the song. This theme being
something quiet or alone. The location is normally very isolated and
quiet and this location will work well with the video. The actor will
also perform some of his lines in this location to help change the
location and keep it from just being the studio.
Time recorded:
The shots will be filmed at day or during the later part of day in order
for the shots and location to feel more darker and overall more in
tune to the lyrics of the song. The darker time will also help to
emphasise the sad and lonely feel to the song.
Advantages:
The location is normally very quiet and open so filming will be very
easy and simple. The location has some nice looking spots as well so
these could work well with the music video.
Problems that may arise:
I need to film the location as soon as possible as I want to avoid
having weather and time changes in the video. Due to the seasons
changing it may snow often and this could affect the flow of the
video.
4. Location 3 - Cleethorpes
Chosen location:
The chosen location is Cleethorpes it will be used for more
calming scenes in the music video. I have filmed various shots her
beforehand. Some of the shots include back alleys and the beach
which is very calming and subtle. I think this quality will work well
with the song.
What will happen:
I have filmed various cinematic shots here some are very simple
like shots of the waves where others show a wide horizon. I have
filmed various shots here in order to make my music video more
diverse. No singing will be done here. This location will simply
have shots that reinforce the lyrics of the song.
Time recorded:
I have recorded most of the shots at day and dusk. These shots
are very colourful and calming and will work well with the theme
of the music video.
Advantages:
The location is very nice looking and suits the genre and lyrics of
the song well. I have also managed to gather a lot of shots from
the location some have also been recorded at night
Problems that may arise:
Not all of the clips I have used may work when creating the music
video and some may not be used or fit the theme of the song.
5. Location 4 – Halifax (town centre)
Chosen location:
Town centre
What will happen:
I will film various shots of crowds and people in this
area. No real performance will be done here as it will
be too busy to film. However I can use large crowds as
a part of my shots to match to the lyrics these being
“And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more”
Time recorded:
I will record at day so that I can get various shots of
crowds. There will be no people at night so I will film
at daytime.
Advantages:
I can film some good shots in this location and
therefore it is a good location to film and get scenes
for my music video.
Problems that may arise:
Location may be too crowded and some people may
not want to be filmed so I may have to get permission
or film somewhere else.
6. Location 5 – Studio
Chosen location: The chosen location is one of the studios in either the lower
school or in sixth form. The studios are used for photography and have white
backdrops however I can change this to any one that I want. This will be used to
film the main scenes where the actor is singing. In front of a basic simple
background to match the genre. Many rock bands tend to film in studios as well
as the song which is my inspiration.
I will mainly uses a studio as not only does it link to the genre of the music but it
in a way links to the lyrics the location is very quiet and empty therefore it can
link to the theme of the lyrics quite well.
What will happen:
The main actor will sing most of his scenes in the studio. While most other
cinematic scenes will be filmed on location. The actor will be seen entering the
studio and this will give the vibe of a very casual and indie type rock video.
Time recorded:
The time filmed will not effect this as it will be inside however it will most likely
be filmed during the day.
Advantages:
It is very simple and can be filmed easily with cameras I can also change the
backdrop using colour drops or lights.
Problems that may arise:
The studio may not be free on certain days for filming. May also have to be
filmed after school. Or during times when school is less busy.
