Characters are all teenagers with different

young audiences might have someone to
recognise and feel sympathy towards. Young
people could be interested in seeing how
desperate for success a person can
become, and how far they are willing to go for it.

3. Intertextual references
The names of the characters are all inspired by
characters from thriller films such as Kill Bill and
Jackie Brown and also the name Victor hints to what
the character’s intentions might be with kidnapping
Anna. These are references that might lead the
audience to feel smart about their ability to
recognise the aspects of the film, as well as giving
clues to what will happen next.

4. Use of soundtrack
The soundtrack that was used had the function of
creating suspense for the audience while paying
attention to the action in the thriller opening. The
song that Nature was playing briefly in the house is
a great example of modern rock that several young
students listen to and are fan of nowadays, so the
song could help emphasizing what the target
audience was.

5. Cliffhanger
The cliffhanger is seeing the two “partners in crime” leave the
suburban area in the car, which indicates that they are taking
the victim with them. The questions that the audiences are then
left with are “is Anna alive?”, “what will they do to the
victim?”, “of what purpose did they decide to kidnap Anna?”
and of course “how will Nature act when she discovers that
Anna and Victor are gone?”.
These are all questions that will urge the audience to see more
of the thriller, and find out what will happen next.
