Attack the block
Attack the block is a film directed by Joe Cornish, that was released on 11th of
may 2011. that was helped created by different companies, these companies are
studio canal, UK film canal, big talk pictures and film4 production. The
distributions of this film was by optimum releasing.
The background image clearly shows
that its London because of iconic
buildings
The tag line is “inner city
vs. outer space” this
indicates the narrative of
the story
The image also
shows spaceships
that are about to
land on earth
which suggests the
film is sci-film
straight away to
audience
the main image
is shot at a long
angle shot of the
council block.
This makes the
block big and
intermediating.
The darkness
suggest danger
and it being
night time and
misty give it a
sense of
mistiness.
The tittle is very bold and big which
makes it very clear for audience to
notice it. ‘ATTACK THE BLOCK’
suggests the narrative and that the
block we see is going to be attacked
The font is dirty which
reinforces the setting being
the dirty block and that it is
undrown and uncared for
area.
The way the characters have been represented is
by having different ethnics. Therefore this broaden
up the audience the way more people can relate
to them the more diverse it is.
The characters
look like their
ready to attack
and they also
look like they
watching
something as
there posture
shows this
The characters look like the
type of people who might
live in the block, they
represented as typical
urban youth.
The characters
on the far end
both sides seem
to look like the
adults.
The woman looks
higher class on
the end as she is
dressed more
casual, however
the man on the
end is dressed
like a mess.
Having two elderly white
people broadens the
appeal as more elder
would have a reason why
they want to watch it
The way the clothing
has be constructed to
appeal the target
audience by having the
children wear what a
young youth would
wear. For example the
boys are wearing
hooded tops and baggy
trousers and caps.
They included “from
producers of Shaun of the
dead” this is an
endorsement saying that if
you’ve Shaun of the dead
and you like it you should
watch attack the clock. This
gives the audience a little
insight of how the film will
go.
Having social network Facebook
helps the audience to interact more
with others.
The age rating of the
film is 15 so the film is
most likely for 15-30
year olds who like
comedy and sci-fi and
are interested in
urban settings
The target audience for the
film is very diverse as there are
different genres, race etc.
