2. Our media product represents a particular social groups in a few different ways. We aimed our
target audience at teens and young adults particularly around the ages of 15-24. Our product was a
physiological thriller based around a girl who is trying to get justice for the mystery of her sister’s
death. I figured that this will only represent certain social groups, because when looking into the
types of films that various other social groups consume they vary from age to age. For instance
when looking at the 55+ age group they types of film they are consuming tend to link in with older
themes such as the Quartet or Philomena. These types of films will suit the 55+ however for myse
3. Furthermore even if you are in a certain age category it does not mean that you are going to
automatically like the types of films that the media will aim at us. For instance the movie The Duff
was released in 2015 and aimed at teens, however this film is might reach out to myself but wont
reach out to others. So that is why the plot of our media product is aimed at a smaller niche
audience that can connect and show in a good interest in the films plot.
4. I think the other thing that only represents a particular social group is the way in which the media
product has been presented. When filming we used camera shots that were taken from the main
character’s point of view. Also we used the present to the past with a black and white transition. I
think this represents our audience because I think it would be harder for certain audiences to follow
the storyline since the actual plot is quite fast and the opening switches from scene to scene.
Overall I feel our media product represents our chosen social group by our plot reaching out to our
audience and them being able to connect with the plot.
