2. I grew up just 10 minutes from the swamps
of South Florida. When I was a teenager I
used to drive through the Everglades
until it was just me and the stars. On the
other side of the swamp, I enrolled at
FGCU, which sits on a nature preserve,
submerging me in a perspective that fit
like a glove. I am an environmentalist, an
