The conventions of this game is the scores at
the top. The layout of the game is quite
simple as its only made up of wooden planks
and some ladders that go from one level to
another to make the game more fun and also
and to keep its originality. The reason why
this game appeals to the audience is probably
because how famous and how old it is. The
target audiences are mainly younger children
but some older adults might find it
interesting. This games genre is an arcade,
the way that is reflected is the fact that it is
made up of pixels and all of the arcade games
are pixelated, for example Pac-man, Tekken,
Super Mario.
Existing Product
The conventions of this game is also the score
board at the top just like on the previous
games. The layout for this game is really
different compared to the other two games.
This game appeals to a older audience because
its old-school and loads of people know it but
it is also simple in its design and gameplay for
younger and newer audiences with an
addicting goal to achieve because when you
start playing you want to collect all the gold
dots to improve your score. They have done
the game on a black background to make the
game look like a night arcade game, but also to
make the colours stand out and to make the
small gold dots look like they’re lights. The
genre of this game is a retro arcade game.
Existing Product
The conventions of this game is also the score
board at the top just like in the previous
game. The layout for this game is made up of
blocks that you can use to get through the
levels and you also have obstacles to make
the game more fun as well as more
challenging. The way this game will appeal to
the audience is because it is a well known
game and there are more parts to this game
which gives the audience more options to
chose from. The main target audiences are
going to be young children. The genre of this
game is arcade.

Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
- All the researched products have got the same interaction. Both the Donkey Kong, Super Mario are
pixelated games. All the games I have researched have included either quests or challenges for the
players to complete or things that the players can unlock or improve. The game will be made to let the
gamers have fun.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
• In my own work I am going to include the pixelated idea from Flappy Bird, Donkey Kong and Super
Mario. I am also going to make my poster and game case cover layout the same as the ones I have
researched.
