2. Process
Firstly I made the starting
menu’s of my game, this
included 4 different options, as
well as using the colour
scheme of red and grey that I
had planned in my pre-
production. From here I
decided to make my character
and put him in the big space
between the words and the 4
options. So I created my
character, based on the real life
fighter “The Notorious” Conor
McGregor, in the second
screenshot he is shown in the
original blank space, I also
decided to animate him
moving slightly, through
bouncing on the spot.
3. From there I then made the
choosing screens, where
you choose the weight
category and fighter that
you would like to play as,
here shows all active
weight classes currently in
the UFC, from choosing the
weight class it shows you
the rankings of the top
MMA fighters in that
weight class, from there
you can choose your
fighter, and once chosen
the character will pop up
below where you chose
them.
4. Process
From there I made the “tale of
the tape”, this is the
comparison of the two fighters,
it shows the age, weight,
height, and reach of the
fighters, this is important as it
shows you the fighters
capabilities. To make this I
researched all of the stats so
that the game can be seen as
reliable, as well as using the
two fighters I created earlier
and shrinking them so they
could fit the screen.
5. Process
From there I then created
an entrance scene, to do
this I created a background
firstly, which included the
place they walkout from,
barricades, and the fans,
from there then I created
the entrances of the
fighters, to do this I edited
the original side view of
the fighters and turned
them to look like they were
facing the front.
6. Process
After that I created
an entrance for each
of the fighters, this
included pyro, this
being a firework style
pyro which then
reveals the fighter
behind it, from there
the fighter poses to
the crowd.
7. Process
After that I created a loading
screen which would be put in-
between the entrances and the
fighting scene, this makes the
game more realistic looking as an
actual game, due to there having
to be a loading screen between
these two parts in most similar
games, as it wouldn’t be able to
load straight away, the loading
screen has a UFC championship
belt, the colour of this changed as
the game loads, to do this I turned
the opacity down in certain parts
of the belt and animated it in
order to fill the belt with proper
colour.
8. Process
From there I then created the fighting
scene, this included me having to design
an octagon in the style they have in MMA
in real life. I made the outer of the cage
first, this being the barrier of the cage as
well as the wire mesh, then I created the
outer parts of the arena, this being the
parts behind the cage as well as all of the
crowd, then I created the mat, which
included shading of a lot of different
area’s. Then I created the actual fighting
scene, this included animating the
walking of each character, as well as a
punch being thrown, with a jumping kick
and knee leading to a knockout, this was
done in many frames and used many
different techniques, included distorting,
warping and rotating a lot of parts of the
body in order to make the movements
look realistic.
9. Process
After that I created a
winning sequence, this
includes the winner
doing a flip and
celebrating to the crowd,
this makes the game
have more of a realistic
fight feel to in real life as
they would celebrate
after winning a fight in a
similar way.
10. Process
Then I had to create sound
effects and background music
for my game, in order to
create these I used BeepBox,
which is a website which
allows you to create your own
music, it is in a very pixelated
style and therefore it matches
the game in a very good way,
it also is good for sound
effects because of the range
of notes and sounds you can
use.
11. Process
From there I put all my clips
together in Adobe Premier
Pro, and added my music
and sound effects to the
product too, these all lined
up perfectly with the design
work I have done, I also
added a few effects, mostly
being fading transitions to
the game, this being in the
music, so there is smooth
transitions into other pieces
of music.
