1. After implementing an audience questionnaire and
focus group interview . I have leant many things about
my audience and how I can appeal and attract them to
my magazine.
3. How can I attract to them through this
information?
Through my interview the group have agreed
that content is what captures their eyes, in
terms of images they want to see an artist
within their psychographics; someone they
can identify as they could familiarise with the
artists on the front cover. However, in the
contents page Maddy could not identify one
of the artist, making her a little less appealed
and satisfied. This is also shown through the
results of questionnaire 18.75% are
encouraged by intriguing stories.
This means that the artists I include will be in
their psychographics and are someone they
know in order to capture their attention.
Alongside this they stated, colour scheme is
also important; bright colours are more
welcoming, which is also shown through the
results I received from my audience
commented “Bright colours” Meaning, to
attract them I must use eye-catching colour
schemes that are female-leaning used
consistently to create my house of style &
brand identity.
4. FONT STYLES!
In the interview, the front covers masthead, contents page’s
and double spread’s font style had attracted them because it
was “big, bright and bold.” & “follows the house style.”
This means when I produce my magazine, the typography &
masthead used must be bold, bright, large, which follows my
house style. In addition my brand identity should be fun &
energetic to appeal to their demographics, psychographics to
appeal and attract them.
5. FONT STYLES
My questionnaire results popular
answers were sans-serif and a
mixture of both.
To appeal and / or attract my
audience I should have a majority of
sans-serif (43.75%), that is bold
bright and some serif styled
(18.75%).
This indicates they want the house
of style to be a mixture so it
suggests the idea of playfulness and
connote a sense of energy.
6. Images
Based upon the interview, my images should have
recognisable artists in their age group, costume
and props (use of mise-en scene) that fits into their
demographic age and psychographics, in order to
appeal to them and make them feel attracted and
happy because its relatable.
They also said, that they were appealed with
images of artists in the double page spread that
had positive body language/ happy expressions.
This means my camerawork should mainly focus
upon, eye level angle, in mid, long and close up
shot to show their content expressions and their
fashion sense (mise-en scene) that will also appeal
to their generations trend, use of high key lighting
to create happiness and a modern, happy look for
my brand identity.
“ I HAVE
TAYLOR
SWIFTS TOP”
7. IMAGES!
40% of the results say
images of popular bands /
artists is what they expect.
33.3% are exclusive images
20% Behind the scenes and
the rest live performance.
To meet their expectations
in order to appeal to them I
should include photos like
as. A variation of the
popular 3 types of images
should be used.
8. Mode of address
My focus group said the magazine they looked at were using
the same language same them which they loved. They liked
how it was a variation of formal and informal throughout the
front / spread and contents page, it makes them want to
continue reading.
This means that to appeal and attract them, I need to use a
mode of address that has some elements of colloquial
language to formal through out my magazine, meaning use of
slang similar dialect within their age and quotations to make
them feel intrigued and it feel personalised.
9. Content
Music charts / based
articles were the
most popular,
alongside interviews,
latest gossip and
concert reviews, to
latest fashion.
This means that my magazine
should have contents of the
following because it fits within
their psychographic and
demographics it means I can
appeal and attract to them
through this.
10. Layout
In the interview, they all agreed that a organised
conventional layout with a hint of mess that was on the
magazines front / spread and contents suited them best.
This is because they are young they want to “navigate the
magazine easily” and that for the double page spread,
layout is important especially for an interview based articles
colours and spacing will help them understand the content
more.
To appeal to them I must follow an organised layout due to
their age, and have slightly non-conventional features to
create that sense of energy to attract them.
